Destiny finally brought them together, after unknowingly crossing paths all their lives! Jess and Param tied the knot at a beachside ceremony at The Palayana Hua Hin, Thailand. A magical mix of rich customs and elegant decor, the celebrations were planned and executed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Urbana Weddings and Events, while WeddingSutra Favorite – Anoop.Photography captured every moment in exquisite detail. Here are a few glimpses of the festivities.
How They Met
Jess shares, “Param and I were introduced to each other at a party by our mutual friends who really wanted to set us up, but we didn’t get off to a great start. A couple of days later, a few of us planned a beach trip, which I had to pull out of at the last minute. A cheeky message from Param about me not showing up was what actually kickstarted our conversation. Boy am I glad now that I didn’t go that trip! Over time we discovered we had several connections that dated back almost twenty years. From our mothers being old friends and us having played together as kids, to his mother actually having been my school teacher, it’s a wonder we never connected before. We kept getting closer as we learned more about each other, and finally, after six months we started dating officially.”
The Proposal
“Param and I both enjoy hiking and outdoor activities so he suggested we hike up to Mt. Macedon, Victoria. Naturally, I got ready in my hiking gear and was thoroughly confused when I saw Param looking dapper in formals. I’m very particular about dressing appropriately for any occasion, so when we arrived at a formal restaurant in the mountain ranges, I felt underdressed and quite annoyed. However, once we reached, as I stood there, overwhelmed by the beauty of the natural vistas around me, Param hugged me from behind, and slowly stepped back. As I turned around, there he was, on one knee with a ring in his hand.”
Wedding Venue
“We had previously done our pre-wedding photoshoot at The Palayana Hua Hin and were completely in love with the hotel. A cozy boutique beach venue in Thailand, it was perfect for our intimate wedding celebrations. The hotel’s welcoming staff and team were remarkable, and the gourmet food was to die for”.
Wedding Planning
The bride shares, “We were in the preliminary phase of looking out for a destination and a friend of my mom recommended Ritu who’s the Managing Director of Urbana Weddings and Events, for Thailand. We had a quick phone call where we discussed our vision and budget and her grounded approach, understanding and positive vibes spurred a visit to Thailand in 2018. We also met with a couple of sales teams and went over proposals from various hotels when we were there. Our planners took complete charge of our traditional Sikh ceremony and executed it with their signature style and panache. Right from the choice of hotel, the menus, the creative decor to the vendors, everything was planned and executed with meticulous attention to detail by Urbana Weddings and Events.”
