How They Met
Kaabia Grewal owns and manages Outhouse Jewellery, while Rushang is a Director at Shimnit Utsch Pvt. Ltd. and the founder of Happipress – a New Age, Made in India, independent lifestyle brand. The duo met for the first time two years ago. They started talking during a round of shots at a friend’s wedding. What began as a fun drunken conversation turned into a whirlwind romance for them.
They decided to turn their love story into a lifetime of happiness and married each other in a lavish, dramatic wedding that was nothing short of a grand carnival in its flamboyance and scale. We’ve seen grand weddings, but this one reflected the couple’s personalities which made every event so much more special and exciting.
Wedding Venue
The wedding festivities took place at JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa in Vietnam. It offered ample choice of venues that promised experiential indulgence. The property also had perfect backdrops for all the themes that the couple had in mind – from a dramatic welcome dinner to an elegant wedding ceremony.
Wedding Functions
Welcome Party and Dinner
The couple gave their welcome dinner a unique spin and this event was called ‘The Mad Mansion Party.’ The venue had mirror and light installations, futuristic bars, and surrealist seating with a disco pink palette tying it all together. The huge feathered headgears and glittery outfits worn by the entertainers for the evening was reminiscent of the iconic cabarets of the 1920s. Kaabia wore a beautiful wing embellished cape and a structured gown by Amit Aggarwal. The party was a magnificent and dramatic celebration of the couple’s love and future together.
Henna Sundowner
The mehndi function was unique in the way it projected an eclectic tribal vibe that was a far cry from regular mehndi ceremonies. The ‘Henna Sundowner’ had a theme that had earthy accents. The couple’s ensembles for this function were elaborate and had red, black and white shells sewn onto them which set them apart from the rest. Kaabia looked like a fearless tribal queen in her tribal necklace, enameled handcuffs, and earrings which were an exotic mix of feathers and enamel detailing featuring a Sphinx. She also pulled off the striking headgear made out of straw, like the #bossbabe that she is.
Wedding
The beach wedding ceremony was as stunning as it gets. From the outfits to the accessories, (designed under Kaabia’s label, OutHouse Jewellery), every detail was well thought out. There was a stark difference between this and the previous functions. While the earlier two were crazy and had pops of color, the wedding itself was elegant with a color palette of pearly whites and blush tones. Kaabia made her entry on a palanquin borne over the waves which made her appear like a swan princess. Kaabia’s passion for jewelry was evident in her choice of bling that was inspired by the sea. For example, the ‘varmalas’ (garlands) and Kaabia’s ‘kaleerein’ (bridal bangle ornaments) had beautiful shell details. Her Shivan & Narresh lehenga had pearly detailing, and she paired it with a custom made tiara that featured Swarovski crystals and pearls. Tiny shells accentuated other hair accessories for the bewitching bespoke bridal look!
When Kaabia walked towards Rushang, it looked like a scene out of a fairytale wedding. The beach wedding concluded with traditional pheras as loved ones gathered around the happy couple to bless and cheer them.
