Packed with merriment and heartfelt moments, Kanchan Ahluwalia and Rishabh Garg’s union at the regal Taj Hari Mahal in Jodhpur was a stunning celebration of love. Decorated, designed and executed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Elusive Dreams By Pooja Doshi, it boasted of unique events that inspired awe with their creative flair. Photographing the wedding was WeddingSutra Favorite – Shutterdown who expertly captured the couple’s lovable moments along with their loved ones’ joy in beguiling frames.
How They Met
Kanchan and Rishabh met six years ago at the University of Warwick where they shared a common group of friends. Opposites by nature, the two remained friends for the longest time but as time flew by, their love bloomed! From an impromptu wedding proposal in New York to coming home to an unexpected pandemic, the journey has been a rollercoaster ride for them. However, their friendship held them steadfast to navigate through the ups and downs of life.
Wedding Venue
Spread over six acres of manicured gardens and lush lawns, Taj Hari Mahal celebrates the grandeur of Rajput and Mughal architecture, thus making it the perfect backdrop for a fairytale wedding. For Kanchan and Rishabh, this plush hotel was the perfect venue with its state-of-the-art amenities, multicuisine restaurants, well-appointed rooms and proximity to local tourist hotspots. For Kanchan especially, it was love at first sight with Taj Hari Mahal as she’d literally scoured all of India for the perfect venue to capture the essence of the wedding. One glance at Taj Hari Mahal in Jodhpur, Kanchan, and her parents were sure that this was it!
Wedding Planning
Planning a grand destination wedding is a colossal task, and so to begin with, they brought on board Elusive Dreams by Pooja Doshi who keenly understood their needs. Giving us an overview of the brief that she received from the bride, Pooja Doshi shares, “Kanchan had full clarity on what she wanted right from the beginning, and she enunciated her requirements very clearly. Working with her was so smooth as she had done immense research which was extremely helpful for me too. I’m proud that every element turned out exactly as Kanchan had imagined and in some places, we took the liberty of amplifying her ideas and gave her a pleasant surprise!”
Taking charge of the photography front was Shutterdown who with their impeccable timing and ability to capture heartfelt moments gave the couple a treasure trove of memories. Accompanying the couple at every step of the way, team Shutterdown captured moments punctuated by laughter, romance and playful banter!
Weddings Functions
Mehndi
Pooja shares, “For the Mehndi, the bride wanted us to incorporate local elements and celebrate Jodhpur in all its glory. We sourced handmade elements and props we loved, like the inlay work coffee tables, blue ceramic pottery vases for flower arrangements, wooden handmade rocking horses, wooden handmade drums, blue block printed drapes, Swiss royal tents, etc. Additionally, we customized and made colorful pom-pom elephants crafted as per a special request which we then placed at the entrance for the Mehndi.”
Cocktail
Decor designer Pooja gives us an overview of the decor, “For the Cocktail, we brought mother nature inside and used green highlighters to uplift the ambience at the ballroom. The bride nurses a soft spot for pandas and hence we incorporated it within the decor. The duo also have fond memories associated with ‘couple pandas’ and so the reflected pandas contrasted the green foliage backdrop beautifully!”
Haldi
“For the bride’s Haldi, we were spurred to create something different that would reflect the inherent spirit of Haldi while all the same letting us express our creativity. We customized sangria carts to flaunt stripes that matched the striped backdrop. Niche windows added a quirky touch while sliced oranges placed on the table added freshness to the venue!”, shares Pooja.
Wedding
Traditional yet romantic, the couple’s Wedding Day echoed perfectly with the majestic architecture of the venue. Pooja shares, “Kanchan wanted to go simple with a touch of royalty. Keeping that in mind, we chose a red and gold color palette. The entire set-up was kept classic with gold LED candle props lining the aisle, plush velvet drapes and shamadan chandeliers. Freshness was further imbued using copious amounts of red roses and white tuberoses.”
