Kavya and Karan, Hua Hin

Kavya Aggarwal and Karan Grover’s beach-front wedding festivities amidst the tropical beauty of Thailand were as fun as they were beautiful. Taking inspiration from their personal lives and unique personalities, WeddingSutra Favorite – Keeran the Wedding Planner explored unusual themes and ideas to create a celebration like no other. Wedding Venue
The beguiling oceanfront vistas and tropical lushness of Hua Hin, Thailand, played the perfect host to the couple’s vibrant revelries. The intricately designed decor themes perfectly highlighted the natural beauty of the location peppered with Thai-inspired elements at each of the functions. Talented dancers, and other local performers enchanted the guests with the abundance of unique attractions this exotic country has to offer.

Wedding Planning
The couple entrusted Meghna Mirpuri with conceptualizing the wedding. Meghna along with the team at Keeran the Wedding Planner built their dream wedding that celebrated the essence of their experiences and unique personalities. With full freedom of creativity and a platter of diverse inspirations, the team let their imagination run free to plan and design a wedding with vibrant colors, unusual themes, and spectacular elements.

Wedding Functions
Welcome Party
The guests arrived to a vibrant welcome at Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa, where they were received with flower garlands, dhol beats, grand decor and wedding favors. The refreshing decor of blue saw pops of orange and peach with fresh flowers, props, personalized quotes and more.

An informal wedding dinner was hosted in the evening for the guests to mingle and settle into a party mood for the upcoming festivities. The lush outdoor space and surrounding palm trees were decked with shimmering lights for the occasion. Wearing the muted combination of grey and cream, the couple entered as everyone welcomed them with waving ribbons. Daring fire acts left the guests enchanted as they sipped champagne, ending with a fire emblem that had the initials KK for the couple.

Mehndi
Inspired by the vivid colors and colonial-era architecture of Cartagena Colombia, the Mehndi function was brimming with the vibrant decor of the city’s signature cityscape, flowers, fruits and other quirky props, contrasted with subtle ivory fabrics and rustic wood. Wearing traditional Thai ensembles, local artists welcomed everyone with orchid garlands. Embossed coconuts, colorful fans, wedding favor pouches, mehndi stations, custom drinks and food were set out for the guests to enjoy as they enjoyed the music, danced and made merry. The bride looked radiant in a ruffled yellow co-ord set while the groom wore a colorful yellow kurta contrasted with a violet Bandi jacket.

Sangeet
The glitz and glamor of the Sangeet function were colored with the excitement of a carnival for an unforgettable night of celebration. Rich dark hues mingled with shimmering lights to set a magical mood where performers dressed as clowns and other carnival folk brought exuberant smiles on everyone’s faces. The bar was designed as a merry-go-around with animal-shaped rides hanging from the roof, smaller versions of which also added a special touch to the table centerpieces. Wearing rich hues of navy and gold, the couple dazzled on the dance floor even as they were joined by their loved ones.

Haldi
The 3rd day began with an indoor pooja and rituals separately for the bride and groom with their close family members, followed by an intimate Haldi celebration. Minimal decor of drapes and flowers decked the stage on which the bride and groom were anointed with holy turmeric paste.

Wedding
The highlight of the entire celebration was the wedding ceremony, which was held with a stunning view of the ocean beyond. Inspired by the couple’s travels in Cambodia, the ancient remains of Angkor Wat were recreated for the mandap, woven with soft blush tones in drapes and flowers for a sight like no other. The groom looked resplendent in a golden-green sherwani with scalloped detailing, while the bride dazzled in a blush floral lehenga. An acoustic version of ‘Din Shagna da’ was sung by the upcoming Riminique as Kavya walked down the aisle towards Karan while being serenaded by a saxophonist and a cellist.
The Jaimala ceremony left everyone awestruck as the couple exchanged garlands on a floating stage on the pool topped with the Four Stone smiling Faces of Bayon Temple as Thai apsaras danced beside them. Other artists enrobed in traditional attire added to the magic of the occasion as the couple tied the knot to great cheer and showers of flowers.

After Party
The wedding was followed by a dinner with speeches, toasts and laughter. Everyone regrouped for a groovy after-party with a rocking DJ, neon lights and tinsel confetti where they danced the night away.

Pool Party
The last day began with a relaxing pool party for everyone to relax and unwind from the festivities of the night before. A canopy of pastel streamers created a refreshing decor for the occasion, white stations of sunglasses, hats and more, were laid out for the guests to enjoy the sunny day as they dipped into the pool, relaxed on floaties, and sipped cocktails.

Mehfil-e-geet
An evening of Indian music and dance followed for the older guests to enjoy. Colorful decor added to the energy of the occasion as they enjoyed performances.

Reception
A formal black-tie Reception brought the 4-day extravaganza to a glamorous end. The decadent decor of flowers and foliage created an enchanted forest-like ambience in the grand ballroom with sweeping canopies hanging overhead. The night saw stunning performances, speeches, cake-cutting and great revelry. As the night progressed, Karan shed his tuxedo jacket and Kavya swapped out her couture gown for an edgy little black dress for an unforgettable night of dancing.
