High on style, glamour, while paying homage to traditions - this destination wedding was a confluence of bright hues and high-energy moments!
From Mumbai and Indore to the golden dunes of Rajasthan, designer Khushboo Chugh and Varddan’s love story unfolded like a movie script, an unexpected meeting, a heartfelt proposal on a quiet island, and ultimately, a wedding that was emotional and exquisitely detailed. At Suryagarh, their celebrations were brought to life by WeddingSutra Favorite – Vows Vachan, who orchestrated every moment with warmth and precision, and designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – House of Vivaah, who crafted each event with poetic artistry and breathtaking décor.
How They Met
What began as a casual introduction during a winter break in Mumbai soon felt destined. Khushboo first met Varddan through her best friend while he was engrossed in a book, barely glancing up. Their paths crossed again during a trip to Aamby Valley, where late-night conversations and gentle matchmaking set the foundation for something meaningful.
The Proposal
On a dreamy Maldives getaway, what Khushboo believed was a content shoot for her label turned into the beginning of forever. She was taken to a private island, unaware that a hidden photographer and Varddan were awaiting the perfect moment. As she turned mid-pose, she found Varddan on one knee, ring in hand. Shock, joy, disbelief, and love surged all at once. Her first whisper, ‘Did you ask my parents?’, was met with a calm, reassuring smile and the words, “Of course I did.” Three months of planning had led to this exquisite moment.
Wedding Planning
The celebrations at Suryagarh were a symphony of emotion, design, and thoughtful orchestration. Vows Vachan planned and managed the wedding with intuitive care, ensuring guests felt personally looked after at every turn. “For us, planning this wedding was about honouring who Khushboo and Varddan are, that is, rooted and full of heart,” shares Team Vows Vachan. “We wanted the experience to feel seamless, immersive, and joyfully unhurried.”
Translating the couple’s aesthetic vision was House of Vivaah. “We approached each event like its own chapter—distinct in mood yet emotionally cohesive,” says Rachana Lucknowalla. “Our design philosophy was simple: let the décor feel soulful, poetic, and meaningful to them.” The Sangeet became a glowing, enchanted forest; the Haldi burst with marigold vibrance and cultural warmth; and the pheras in the Bawri unfolded like a desert dream.
Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
The celebrations began amidst the vast dunes of Jaisalmer with an intimate welcome dinner under a star-studded sky. Traditional tents, amber-hued lanterns, and soulful live music created a nostalgic, heartfelt atmosphere. Families shared stories and friends toasted to new beginnings. It set the perfect tone for what was to follow.
Haldi
A joyous explosion of colour and culture, the Haldi was drenched in sunshine, marigolds, and unrestrained laughter. ‘Good Earth’ inspired elements, spirited entries by the couple, and a tender serenade by Varddan’s parents moved everyone to tears. The ceremony soon turned playfully wild with haldi, beer, ghee, and endless giggles.
Sangeet
The Lake Garden Sangeet was a dreamscape, inspired by an enchanted forest illuminated by fairy-lit pathways, lush florals, and the palace shimmering in the distance. A glass stage added a touch of modern elegance, while a cozy glasshouse ensured elders enjoyed the evening in comfort. Heartfelt performances lit up the night, including a surprise solo by Khushboo. The celebration then shifted into a high-energy after-party, complete with comforting late-night favourites, from ramen to skillet cookies, dancing on until sunrise.
Wedding
Set in Suryagarh’s ethereal bawri, the wedding was steeped in emotion and serenity. The bride’s wish was a sunset varmala, and with heartfelt coordination from the groom’s side, it unfolded beautifully in golden light. As the pheras began, the venue glowed with floating florals, candlelit warmth, and serene chanting. The couple personalised their rituals by choosing inclusivity, skipping kanyadaan and vidaai.
Reception
Cascading purple drapes, glowing candles, and velvety red roses transformed the venue into an elegant celebration of love. A breathtaking moment saw Khushboo and Varddan dance atop a pedestal as fireworks lit up the night. Later, Khushboo switched into denims and a jacket for the after-party, dancing alongside friends and family until 8:30 am!
