From a Mediterranean Haldi to a library-inspired Sangeet made of recycled books, this wedding was filled with unique decor themes.
Finance Professional at Procter & Gamble, Khushboo Khubchandani tied the knot with Bhavishya Kanjhan, in a lavish celebration in Dubai. Exquisitely planned by WeddingSutra Favorit – OH! How they met
Khushboo and Bhavishya were introduced by family and friends but what really got them together was their shared love for books. Their wedding was spectacular and incredibly special, filled with personal touches and customizations that set it apart. The themes for each event were specially crafted to reflect their personalities and love for travel, reading, hiking, and nature. The hashtag for the wedding, #TheKitaBeeWedding, was an ode to their story of meeting through a book club (hosted by the bride).
Wedding Planning
The couple chose a range of venues for the wedding functions and entrusted the team of OH! SO Desi Events to orchestrate every aspect of the festivities. Team Splendid Surprise Luxury Weddings designed and curated the decor for each function with distinctive themes. The team of Magic Motion Media captured every nuance and emotion of their celebrations in flawless frames.
Wedding Functions
Haldi and Mehndi
Hosted at the bride’s aunt’s house in Emirates Hills, the Haldi and Mehndi ceremony kicked off the festivities with Mediterranean flavors! Inspired by the groom’s time in Spain and the couple’s love for travel, the occasion was imagined with a “limoncello’ theme in hues of blue and yellow, brimming with lemons and verdant foliage.
The guests were greeted by a sign of “Gran Via” as they entered the celebration. The couple’s entry was followed by a ceremonial haldi and a phoolon ki holi. Lawn games like ‘Hook the duck’, ‘life-size Jenga’, ‘Limbo’, and more were arranged for the guests to enjoy, along with a custom perfume bar, custom giveaways, an Aperol spritz bar, gelato station, and delicious food stations. The tunes of Shanay Shah and DJ Nitesh had everyone swaying to their beats.
A cozy Mehndi ceremony was also orchestrated for the bride and the family, replete with a surprise dance performance for the couple.
Sangeet
Imagined with the theme of ‘Party in our Library’ in the ballroom of The Ritz Carlton DIFC, the Sangeet was a heartfelt ode to the couple’s love for books. The decor was done with 700 recycled books and pages accented with console tables, disco balls, and neon touches. To ensure sustainability, all the books were purchased from scrap and thrift stores and returned after use.
A neon tunnel paved the way for the guests with vibrant flowers, books, and greens to lead them into the ballroom. The ceiling was adorned with a canopy of disco balls and books, while the centerpieces were composed of real books and flowers. The photo booth at the event was a reading corner that featured life-size scrolls with quotes that held special meaning to the couple. The guests were also treated to a live engraving calligraphy counter with a plethora of meaningful giveaways and were handed whistles to cheer and hoot during the performances. The evening unfolded with a ring ceremony followed by a stunning performance showcasing the love story of the couple before the DJ took over the dance floor.
Wedding
The couple tied the knot at The Ritz Carlton Dubai, in a sunset ceremony infused with rustic elements, lush foliage, and soothing pastel flowers for a truly magical setting. The bride walked down the aisle with a long custom veil under the phoolon ki chadar accompanied by her cousins. After a small ritual, the couple walked towards the mandap holding hands, on an aisle that was printed with the quote “With you I’m both feet in the water”, reflecting the words with which the groom had proposed!
In keeping with their heritage, the family handed out Sindhi topis instead of safas to the guests, and custom fans were placed on the chairs with their wedding wows for ease of understanding, as their guests were from around the world. The couple got married with musical pheras as the guests rang bells, and walked down the aisle as all the guests held up sparklers in celebration. After a quick outfit change, the couple made their way back for their first dance and a cake-cutting ceremony, and the revelries continued with the rousing beats of Raag Band.
Western Wedding
The wedding dinner was followed by a “Boda & Velada” event, in honor of the groom’s love for all things Spanish. The occasion was arranged for the friends and family of the couple to unwind and celebrate the newlyweds. The decor saw turfs, fairy lights, bean bags, and teepee tents for a relaxed backyard party setting. The bar facade was composed of a chalkboard where their guests could leave messages for the couple.
The couple exchanged vows surrounded by love and blessings. The evening continued with toasts and roasts, after which Raag Band took over the night and got everyone to the dance floor.
