Krupa and Ruchit, Emirates Palace, UAE
Krupa and Ruchit's wedding included a mix of fun events, dramatic photobooths with falcons and a snake, and lots of music.
Krupa and Ruchit’s wedding festivities was all about elegant extravagance which were planned and executed meticulously by two Weddingsutra Favorites – Kkings Events and Swaaha WMC. The revelries were captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Reels & Frames. The bride shares with us all the details that made her wedding so unforgettable.
How We Met
“Ruchit and I have been childhood friends. Growing up together helped us witness each other’s journey very closely. In between hanging out with our mutual friends and having fun, both of us very organically grew fond of each other but we did not convert our liking into a relationship at that time. Our bond bloomed further when we traveled to London for our studies. Both of us went to Berkeley and that’s when Ruchit popped the question. I could not help but say ‘Yes!’ because this is what both of us had been rooting for all along!”
Wedding Venues
“If I have to describe my vision for my big day, it would be to have the ultimate ‘Big, Fat Indian Wedding.’ I always wanted the kind of wedding that my family and friends would experience only once in their lifetime. Both Ruchit and I wanted a mix of a palace and a beach wedding and have the best of both worlds! We held our cocktail party in Aamby Valley, and the ‘Kankorti Lakhvanu’ and sangeet at Blue Sea Banquets and Dome @ NSCI in Mumbai. All the other wedding ceremonies took place at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.”
Wedding Planning
“We had two teams, Kkings Events and Swaaha WMC who helped plan our wedding, and collaborating with them was an amazing experience. Both made sure that everything ran as smoothly as possible. KKings Events also organized a special bridal shower which was truly spectacular.
Reels & Frames who were our wedding photographers also shot our pre-wedding photos and clicked some fabulous frames despite the extreme weather conditions. Our wedding favors were crafted by Izhaar By Core Designs. Their ideas and execution was flawless. All the teams that we worked with were very accommodating of our requests.”
Wedding Functions
Cocktail Party
“We started the wedding celebrations with a cocktail party at Aamby Valley, which went by the theme ‘Dementia Land.’ This event saw two fun parties taking place. ‘Carousal’ was the day event and it was high on the quirky vibe with elements like a trippy butterfly stage, bubble artists, sheesha and fancy food stalls. ‘Classic Insanity,’ on the other hand, was the night-time bash which welcomed the guests into a winter wonderland with a 360-degree mapping. A classic black and white theme was fused with technology at this party. The highlight of the event was the 9 litre champagne pop by Ruchit.”
Kankorti Lakhvanu
“Our ‘Kankorti Lakhvanu’ function was where our family bestowed us with blessings. The event ended with a garba night, where everyone put on their Gujarati dance mojo and filled the night with energy. The decor of the event comprised of fresh blooms, traditional elements, and flowing drapes. An ensemble from Kolkata-based Sequins & Pearls, was my outfit of choice while Ruchit went with a Tarun Tahiliani creation.”
Sangeet
“Grandeur and luxurious, our sangeet was called ‘The Royal Reveal.’ Tunes by hit singers such as The Meet Bros and Manasi Scott elevated the glamour quotient. Power-packed performances by our loved ones made this event an affair to remember. The decor by Kkings Events along with Dome Occasions spelled sheer opulence! Ruchit and I both wore Manish Malhotra outfits for this function.”
Mehndi
“With this function, we took our wedding extravaganza to the luxurious Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. The ‘Bohemian Souk Mehndi’ was a modern take on the traditional mehndi ceremony and the guests were entertained with lively music, scrumptious food, refreshing drinks, and special Turkish Ice-cream. The highlight of the event was the photobooth where guests could click pictures with falcons! I opted for a Sabyasachi outfit and Ruchit wore an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla ensemble for this function.”
Umrao Night
“This evening was an ode to love whose ambiance was created by soulful music as guests were welcomed with bands of fresh ‘mogras’ (jasmine blooms). Our entry for this event was extremely beautiful as we walked hand in hand with a group of graceful Arabic dancers. Shaayris, dance performances, and magic is everything this event was made of! The decor followed the Arabic theme effectively and we also arranged for a photo session, where guests could click pictures with a snake. I looked like a Mughal bride in a golden sharara by Rimple and Harpreet Narula while Ruchit was dapper in a red Shantanu & Nikhil outfit.”
Tropical Paradise
“We called our lip-smacking brunch by the pool ‘Tropical Paradise’ and brought in decorative elements like pineapples and flamingos among other things. Upbeat music and a ‘rodeo’ ride further added a dash of fun to the proceedings! An outfit by Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika was my choice for the evening, and Ruchit went with a Govinda Mehta creation.”
Knotting Bells
“Surrounded by magnificent decor that comprised of pastel hues and beautiful flowers, Ruchit and I exchanged our wedding vows. The baarat started at the palace and we got married at the beach, which enabled us to have the best of the regal and waterfront backdrops! I made an entrance under an elegant ‘phoolon ki chaadar’ (floral canopy), while Ruchit entered in a Rolls Royce. The joyful members of the family welcomed us at the venue by releasing pastel colored balloons in the air. A creation from Koesch by Kresha Bajaj was my dream wedding outfit and Ruchit was a Sabyasachi groom.”
Mystical Night
Advice For Couples
“I believe one’s wedding day is a landmark occasion and being involved during the process of planning it makes it more special. So I would recommend every couple to be just as invested as the wedding planners because it is the personal touch that adds the magic.”
