After 8 years of togetherness, New Yorker Melanie Paty and Delhi-born Ishaan Nagpal celebrated their love with a traditional Indian wedding, designed and executed to perfection by WeddingSutra Favorite – TailorMade Experiences. Hosted with Punjabi rituals and traditions, the grand 3-day affair drew in a global guestlist of friends and family who flew in from all over the world to witness the magic, moments of which were immortalized by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Blemished Tales!
How they met
Ishaan, a Punjabi boy from Delhi who moved to the US for his higher studies, met and fell for New Yorker Melanie while studying at the same college in LA. Both of them are adventurous, filmy, and love to dance. They also both love dogs and are even pet parents to an adorable pooch named Nola who they adopted together!
Wedding Planning
With the couple and the bride’s family being based in the US, the groom’s family brought the team of TailorMade Experiences on board to spearhead the planning process. From finding the perfect venue for each of the vendors, the team worked in tandem with the family from start to finish, keeping the couple updated on every move with weekly scheduled calls. Since both the bride and the groom also love to dance and were quite passionate about their Sangeet performances, team TailorMade also worked closely with the choreographer to ensure all practice sessions were scheduled as per EST since guests were based out of the US. Team TailorMade also ensured that the bride and her family felt included at every step of the process despite not being physically present, were happy with all the choices, and were aware of the relevance of every ritual and custom. It was truly a union of two families and cultures!
Talking about the experience, the bride shares “We thank the team of TailorMade so much for their professionalism, attention to detail, and grace with which they navigated the entire planning process. Every person on the TailorMade team played such an important and unique role and it felt like we all became friends along the way. Our wedding was truly the best day of our lives, and I think all our guests feel the same.”

Wedding Functions
Mehndi and Haldi
To kick off the festivities on a fun, casual note with a hint of Punjabi Pind, the mehndi ceremony saw a whirlwind of colors! Vibrant floral set-ups, photo corners, quirky decor elements, traditional prints, rattan art, boho lounges, and rustic charpai all came together in a charming cocktail of themes.
The guests were welcomed by a Rajasthani troupe consisting of Ravanhatha, Kachi ghodi dancers, and nagada music. An intimate Sagan-Chuni ceremony was followed by the mehndi as guests enjoyed live music by a Punjabi folk singer. A live bangle maker, a live ittar station, a polaroid station, a giveaway station, and delectable local eats kept the guests in high spirits throughout, and a haldi ceremony followed after the delicious lunch!
Sangeet
A glitzy Sangeet function brought everyone’s inner performer to the forefront for a night of music, dance, and merriment! A rich palette of navy blue and gold took over the lush expanse of the iconic Amaanta Farms for the evening, elevated with whimsical arrangements of white flowers, tinsel canopies, drapes, and more. The massive stage was lit up with power-packed performances by the couple and both families, while DJ Rahill kept the party going till early morning.
Wedding
Hosted at the magnificent ITC Maurya, the garden wedding was a romantic floral affair with lush green environs softly decked in pastel tones. The bride and groom tied the knot in a beautiful union of two cultures, enveloped in the love of their families. A formal dinner reception concluded the elegant festivities with the first dance, cake-cutting, toasts, and champagne.
