Brimming with natural beauty and heartfelt moments, Mitali Poddar and Aakash Goyal’s lakeside nuptials were a joy to behold. Hosted at The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake which is a part of the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, in the month of August, this wedding took place in the lap of nature and indulged the guests with its stunning views and luxury. The wedding was swathed in a variety of colors and skillfully balanced modern as well as traditional elements.
How they met
The couple met while studying at Noida’s Amity University and dated for over four years before tying the knot. Aakash popped the question at Morjim Beach in Goa with a stunning seaside proposal, something Mitali had always dreamed of.

The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake, which is also a part of the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, is the first-ever Gateway resort in India. Located just 45 km away from the international airport in Delhi, it offers the best of convenience, luxury and natural beauty. Keen on hosting all their festivities outdoors, this plush property with its 20-acre grounds was the perfect pick for Mitali and Aakash who wanted a destination wedding away from the hustle and bustle of the city but well within reach for all the guests to enjoy!

Sangeet
With a monochrome dance floor and an LED-backed stage, the couple’s Sangeet was high on glam. Showing off their best moves in solo as well as group performances, the couple’s loved ones danced to their favorite tracks with everyone cheering them on!
Mehndi
Inspired by the colors of Morocco, the daytime Mehndi event featured bold silhouettes and floral arrangements that caught the eye instantly. Equipped with a vast stage where the bride got her palms patterned with henna, Mitali was truly the spotlight’s muse! Everyone was in awe of the setting which also comprised of tinted glass bottles, lamps and mirror work cushions that glimmered under the light.
Haldi
Energetic and high-spirited, the Haldi event witnessed the couple at their playful best! A bright backdrop flanked the couple as they got slathered in haldi and a vivid entryway gave the guests a glimpse of what was in store for them. Exuding distinctly tropical vibes with colors like blue, hot pink and lemon yellow, this sunkissed Haldi was simply unforgettable!
Wedding
Hosted at the resort’s outdoor amphitheater, the wedding looked regal with its circular mandap dotted with pink roses. With flower garlands suspended from the ceiling, foliage-covered pillars, and comfy seats for the guests, the wedding was totally in sync with the couple’s vision. Swati shares, “Despite the rains, the big day was a sunny one! We were so glad that everything fell into place for the wedding and went exactly as planned.”
Reception
Ending their celebrations on a high note, the couple’s reception was glitzy and enchanting. Adorned with a floral pink backdrop, cane lanterns, a suspended cake and a floral arch it packed a massive punch in the glamour department!
Advice for couples
“We preferred an intimate wedding with a limited guest list so we could enjoy it to the fullest. Plan your wedding exactly the way you want, and you will cherish those moments forever. Try to be as comfortable as you can be, and do keep hangover shots/medicines as they help a lot. Brides, make sure your veil isn’t heavy, as it can be difficult to manage”.
