The couple, who first met as children on the sets of Boogie Woogie in 2004, married exactly 21 years later on the very same date. Blending Odia and Punjabi traditions, the celebrations unfolded over several days, with every event drawing inspiration from a different chapter of their journey through thoughtful design, music, food, and meaningful rituals.

How They Met
Natasha is a Senior Product Manager, content creator, and founder of The Tash Mashup, a digital food and beverage platform centred on Indian-inspired drinks and effortless entertaining. Meanwhile, Rajat works in finance as an accountant. Their shared love for food, music, hospitality, and creating memorable experiences became the foundation of both their relationship and their wedding.

The two first met as children during the finals of Boogie Woogie, India’s iconic dance competition, on November 21, 2004. Years later, they reconnected in San Diego, where a casual sushi date marked the beginning of their relationship. As they got to know each other, they discovered several remarkable coincidences, including sharing the same birthday. Choosing November 21 as their wedding date felt only natural, exactly twenty-one years after they first met.

The Proposal
Before reconnecting in San Diego, Natasha and Rajat had unknowingly spent years living just minutes apart in Washington, D.C. When a family wedding brought them both back to the city, Rajat knew it was the perfect place to propose. He planned an intimate waterfront brunch overlooking the city, complete with Natasha’s favourite flowers, sunset orchids, and thoughtful details inspired by their relationship. He proposed with a yellow diamond ring, her favourite colour, engraved with the date they first met.

As he got down on one knee, a violinist began playing Junoon by Mitraz, a song deeply meaningful to the couple. Since sheet music for the track did not exist, Rajat used AI technology to recreate it so it could be performed live. The proposal was followed by a surprise celebration in Richmond, where both families came together for an evening of music, dancing, and festivities.

Wedding Planning
Natasha and Rajat wanted their wedding to feel like one continuous story instead of a collection of individual events. Working closely with Kkings Events, who led the planning and production, and Do It Up, who translated their vision into immersive settings, every celebration reflected a milestone in their relationship while remaining connected to the larger narrative. The wedding held special significance for Natasha, who had always dreamt of getting married in India so her grandmother could bless the occasion.

A 40-piece choir band performed for the very first time during the wedding rituals, creating a magical and unforgettable highlight. The festivities beautifully blended Punjabi and Bengali traditions, with food at the heart of it all.”

The couple shares, “Planning a wedding in Rajasthan while living in San Diego meant we needed a team we could trust completely. Wedding Functions
Mehndi
Inspired by Coke Studio, the Mehndi transformed Nahargarh’s amphitheatre into an intimate live music venue. Vibrant floral installations, colourful lounge seating, and layered décor created a relaxed setting where a live band performed songs that marked milestones in the couple’s relationship. Personalised Coca-Cola bottles and live coaster engraving added interactive touches, making the afternoon feel equal parts concert and celebration.

Welcome Dinner
Guests were welcomed to Rajasthan with traditional folk singers, dancers, and floral hospitality before settling in for a royal thali under the stars. Set against the grandeur of Nahargarh Palace, the evening embraced local culture with regal décor, warm lighting, and an atmosphere that introduced everyone to the spirit of Ranthambore.

Haldi
Drawing inspiration from California farmers’ markets and the life the couple built together in San Diego, the Haldi was fresh, bright, and playful. Citrus installations, cheerful blooms, woven accents, and hammocks set the tone, while a spritz bar, live bangle making, personalised spice blends, and interactive guest experiences kept everyone engaged. A flower petal tunnel leading to a margarita tower became one of the celebration’s most memorable highlights.

Sangeet
Celebrating the dance competition where they first met, the Sangeet paid tribute to the couple’s shared love for performance. Dynamic stage design, choreographed dance acts, immersive entertainment, and a Glambot experience kept the energy high throughout the evening. A late-night Maggi cart served on the dance floor provided the perfect finale to a night centred around music, memories, and celebration.

Wedding Ceremony
Set against the historic Hathi Kund stepwell at sunset, the ceremony brought together Odia and Punjabi traditions through a thoughtful, gender equal framework led by a female priestess. Soft floral arrangements complemented the heritage setting while a live 40-member choir accompanied every ritual. Instead of showering petals, guests rang personalised wedding bells, creating an emotional and deeply memorable moment.

Reception
Inspired by New Orleans and the couple’s first holiday together, the reception blended jazz influences with timeless elegance. Warm lighting, refined tablescapes, and vintage details set the mood for an evening of live entertainment, custom cocktails, live portraits, and a seated menu celebrating Punjabi and Odia cuisine. In place of a traditional wedding cake, Natasha and Rajat cut into an oversized motichoor ladoo, honouring a much-loved family tradition and bringing the celebrations to a fitting close.
