How They Met
Niruti recollects, “Tonish and I met in 2015 at work. We were both interns at a CA firm in Mumbai. We were instantly attracted to each other when we got to know each other, but we were not ready for a relationship. Two years later, we finally took it to the next level!
In 2021, we decided to move to another country for work. And, by God’s grace, we both landed jobs in the same city simultaneously! We’re both CAs now working in Dubai. Since we were both moving, we decided to let the families know and get engaged. We’re an interfaith couple, Tonish is a Catholic and I’m a Hindu, so we were nervous to get our families involved, but it was the easiest affair! Our families got along well. It felt so natural!”

The Proposal
“Tonish surprised me with a beautiful proposal right out of my dreams. Years ago, I had sent him a picture from a magazine of a small villa in Pushkar called The Secret Garden which has the loveliest aesthetic. I had forgotten about it. However, he found the place (which was a task to locate) and arranged a proposal there with our parents and closest friends. It was surreal. We were both in tears to be able to say ‘yes’ after 5 years of dating!”, shares Niruti.

Wedding Planning
The happy couple shares, “Working with Akaso Events to plan and design our wedding events was a breeze. Everything was executed to perfection – exactly as discussed on our planning calls and even better in some ways. Initially, we thought that not being in the same city as the event planners might be a problem. However, the planning team drove the whole process seamlessly through multiple calls, timely meetings and well-documented deliverables. They understood our aesthetic perfectly and designed the wedding of our dreams!
We were worried if we would be able to enjoy our wedding. But they made sure that they reached out to us only when necessary. They considered our family members their own and listened to them more patiently than we would’ve and still managed to do everything like we had dreamt and beyond.
Some things that stuck with us are:
1. Everything was beautifully done. It was right off the mood board shown to us in our initial discussions.
2. They went above and beyond by adding small details to the festivities which we didn’t expect.
3. They were very collaborative till the very end and took the responsibility to even coordinate with other vendors at the wedding and ensure everything was in line with the planned aesthetic.
4. All our guests were left impressed by the hospitality and professionalism shown by the events team.
Akaso was our first choice for our events and designs and we’re glad we didn’t look in another direction. Hands down the best people for the job!”

Wedding Functions
Haldi
Niruti shares, “The haldi was based on the ‘Italian Summer’ theme with a breezy pastel blue canopy sheltering us from the sun. We had a gala time at this event as everyone was at their playful best on the open lawn – dancing, bantering or slathering us with turmeric. Larger-than-life daisies and arches with blue pottery art made every picture look spectacular.”

Sufi night
“As evening fell, we geared up for the Sufi Night which also doubled up as the mehndi celebration. Intricate candelabras, arches with arabesque designs, yellow fairylights and a packed dancefloor ensured everyone had the time of their lives!”, recollect Niruti and Tonish.

Church Wedding and Reception
Keeping it simple with white blooms and foliage, the church wedding was minimalistic and heartfelt. The bride with her customised veil stole the show and the couple also shared plenty of emotional moments with their family during the ceremony. After the church wedding, the couple hosted a fun and interactive reception where they played engaging games, cut a multi-tiered cake and performed their first dance as newlyweds.

Hindu wedding
Hosted on a sunlit morning under the sprawling branches of a majestic tree adorned with garlands of jasmine, the phera ceremony looked stunning. Chandeliers, pink roses and delicate ivory furnishings looked right at home at the garden wedding.
