Parul Bajaj And Prateek Roongta, Jai Mahal Palace, Jaipur
Combining five earth elements with lavender-hued decor - this couple’s destination wedding in Jaipur was romantic and stylish.
Foodies Parul Bajaj and Prateek Roongta’s destination wedding at the palatial Jai Mahal Palace in Jaipur was not just filled with cheery moments but was also punctuated with glamour and Jai Mahal Palace duo’s love for everything desi. Ensuring that each of the events looked exquisite while keeping the couple’s personal tastes in mind was WeddingSutra Favorite – The Doli Diary who in an in-depth manner looked into every detail as they planned and decorated this wedding.
How They Met
Parul and Prateek first met at an office party where a quick friendship was struck up. And as their friendship turned to love, the duo was cautious at first. Once they realised the bond they have is for life, there was no turning back as they made it official!
Wedding Venue
Surrounded by 18 acres of lush landscaped Mughal Gardens, Jai Mahal Palace in Jaipur awes one from the very first glimpse. And inspired by its regal architecture, richly appointed rooms, and a wide variety of in-house venues that gave wings to their creativity, Parul and Prateek chose it as their wedding venue. The duo especially favoured the vast lawns of the venue where they hosted their events surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Wedding Planning
Neha Wadhwan from The Doli Diary shares, “Both are huge foodies and were very particular about the menus. Hence, each food item was especially looked into in a detailed manner. Overall, the couple wanted an elegant and aesthetically pleasing wedding and we even made notes of their favourite restaurants from which we derived inspiration.” Jinal Patel from The Doli Diary adds, “Instead of constructing a new avante-garde venue, the couple chose a simpler route wherein they chose to enhance the existing beauty of the place with the decor.”
Weddings Functions
Welcome Dinner and Sangeet
Jinal shares, “For the first event we fused a Parisian style aesthetic with Sufi decor. Plus, also took inspiration from the couple’s favourite restaurant in Jaipur. Traditional Jaipuri crafts, candles and tables adorned with flowers were added for a romantic ambience. The groom is a huge Shahrukh Khan fan, and his sangeet playlist featured the songs from his movies only.”
Speakeasy
Neha shares, “The couple is a fan of the speakeasy era and only those who had the answers to clues were allowed to enter the venue. Again, the bar and drinks were carefully curated, and a live band kept everyone on their toes.”
Mehendi
Jinal shares, “Parul was very keen on a colourful mehndi event. Hence, we used lots of ombre shades and floral elements along with a bloom-laden swing at the centre of the setup. Poolside games and a resting shamiyana-like area next to the pool were also constructed in the venue to relax.”
Haldi
For the haldi, desi quirk took the front seat with colourful elements like printed cushions, floral swings and rustic wooden benches on which the guests could lounge after a playful haldi session. Adding to the charm were games like Jenga and beer pong where everyone was at their competitive best.
Wedding
Jinal shares, “The wedding venue was a field of lavender, and five elements – earth, water, wind, space and fire were brought in to enhance the decor. The mandap for the Marwari and Gujarati wedding was a regular tree which we transformed into a floral tree, and pastel and spring colours peppered around it. Eschewing the usual phoolon ki chaadar, the bride made her way to the mandap under a decorated umbrella. And, the jutta churai was especially hilarious as the bride squad hid the groom’s shoes amongst the guests.”
Reception
Neha shares, “The reception was a boho-fairytale-themed night where white boho-themed decor, lamps and light lit up the venue and a dancefloor was erected for the couple to enjoy their first dance.”
