When it’s a wedding of two wealthy NRI families from Hong Kong and London, you can be sure about three things – one, the wedding will be held at a glamorous destination in Europe or South East Asia. Two, almost all the guests will be wearing uber-stylish ensembles by Indian couturiers. Three, the wedding planner will be Mumbai-based planner extraordinaire Aditya Motwane. So no prizes for guessing that the Vachani-Virani wedding in Monte Carlo had all these ingredients and more.
The #Mahirsgrandpri celebration saw over 400 guests attending from Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, New Delhi, New York, Dubai, Singapore, and Madrid. Monaco, the second tiniest country in the world, with its amazing weather and easy connectivity, spectacular venues and finest infrastructure, was the top venue choice for the couple who work in London. Prianka, who is Gujarati, is the Area Commercial Marketing Manager for the InterContinental Hotels Group, while Mahir Vachani, a Sindhi whose family lives in Hong Kong, is a Partner at Bloomsbury Property Services.
The celebrations started with a welcome party at the Night Club Jimmy’z – popularly known as the temple of clubbing in Monte Carlo and the Principality’s ultimate hotspot since 1971. The mehndi function was held at Hotel Hermitage, the historic luxury hotel built in the early 1900’s. The sangeet was hosted at the ballroom of Le Meridien Beach Plaza. The guests enjoyed the unique sea views, the dance performances by the family and foot-tapping music by international DJs and top entertainers including the Vyas Brothers from Mumbai. On Sunday, the baraat assembled at the Casino Square from where they danced their way to the Opera House where the traditional wedding ceremony took place. The finale was a sit-down dinner at the Sporting Club, an outstanding venue for large events and gala dinners.
