Priyam and Runit, Bali, Indonesia
This bride’s beachside mehndi highlighted the beauty of tropical Bali with its whimsical butterfly garden theme.
Close-knit yet grand, Priyam and Runit’s wedding was an expression of their personalities. With the lush landscape of Bali providing a breathtaking backdrop, this duo tied the knot while basking in the love of their families. Captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Sam & Ekta, the special memories of the celebrations are something the couple will treasure for a lifetime. Here, bride Priyam shares highlights of the festivities.
Wedding Planning
Priyam and Runit took the help of expert vendors for their destination wedding. On the photography front, they hired Sam & Ekta. “From the first conversation itself, both Runit and I knew that they were absolutely perfect for the job. Not only is the team very creative, but they also respect your time and space, allowing you to focus on what’s truly important. All their pictures reflected the emotions at our wedding so beautifully. Honestly, we did not expect to have such an emotional reaction to watching our wedding highlights slideshow or video footage. However, when we saw it, we re-lived the wedding through their lens, and it left us spellbound.”
“Other members of the team were decorators Tea Rose Wedding Designer who understood our vision perfectly. Entertainers DJ Sumit Sethi and his team, MC La Cozy, singer Noddy Singh and Deva Entertainment made sure everyone was in high spirits. For my makeup looks, I chose the talented Natasha Moor along with hairstylist Arifa Nurjayanto. Additionally, our parents helped us at every step of the way and we would not have been able to execute any of it without their support.”
Weddings Functions
Haldi
“We were very clear that we wanted the haldi event to be outdoors while being as fun and casual as possible. Fortunately, the hotel had a beautiful traditional Balinese stone temple within the grounds, and we chose to do our yellow and green themed haldi there. A floral set up with two individual swings placed side by side was chosen for the occasion where Runit and I, participated in the haldi ceremony together. The function began with our families singing folk songs as the rituals commenced.”
Welcome Sundowner
“We hosted our Welcome Sundowner at the Roosterfish Beach Club, which we had exclusively to ourselves. With an all-white decor, our major focus was on the lighting which highlighted the cabanas, daybeds and the vast dancefloor. Our guests enjoyed panoramic beach and sunset views, a spectacular show by live fire dancers, and LED drum artists. Slowly as the evening progressed, the party mode was switched on as everyone danced and mingled freely.”
Mehndi
“Hosted outdoors at the poolside garden terrace, the decor for mehndi was a personal favorite of mine thanks to its ‘Whimsical Butterfly Garden’ theme. Replete with flowers, birds, and other natural elements that signified the tropics, it was a gorgeous setup. Our entry to the event was extremely energetic thanks to the dhol beats which got everyone dancing. Additionally, to entertain guests, we also had a caricature artist drawing portraits, Punjabi dolis, and Noddy Singh who mesmerized everyone with his tunes.”
Sangeet
“Inspired by the day’s mehndi function, the sangeet had an ‘Enchanted Tropical Forest’ theme, for which the entire ballroom was transformed with a circular stage and dance floor in the middle of the room. However, the highlight of the night were the dance performances by our families and friends who despite being located thousands of miles away rehearsed digitally to pull off a fantastic performance! Additionally, DJ Sumit Sethi played his groovy tunes which got everyone to shake a leg!”
Wedding
“The morning of our wedding was absolutely magical with a cloudless azure blue sky, and the most pleasant breeze blowing gently. The mandap was set up outdoors on the deck terrace beside the poolside giving us a panoramic view of the Bali coastline. Earlier in the day, I’d had my chooda function with my relatives and closest girlfriends in attendance, while Runit prepped for his baraat. He drove in on a vintage Mercedes while I looked on from a glass sanctuary as my sisters tied the kaleerein on my wrists. For my own entry, I was walked down the aisle with my brothers while an aunt sang shabad.”
Reception
“After the ceremony was completed we had the usual wedding pranks where Runit’s shoes were stolen, but as we transitioned into the evening, our reception amped up the glamour. Hosted in the ballroom, the reception was mainly a black-tie dinner with live Brazilian carnival dancers announcing our arrival. We enjoyed a champagne toast by our parents, cake cutting, and heartfelt speeches by other loved ones that moved us to tears. Adding a dash of playfulness to the event was a hilarious game that tested our compatibility with each other.”
Advice For Couples
“Surround yourself with people who love and understand you. Weddings can be especially hectic for the bride and groom and it’s important during this time that you have somebody to fall back on. This not just applies to your family and friends but also your team who’ll constantly be by your side throughout the wedding.”
