Radhika and Rishabh, ITC Sonar, Kolkata
Inspired by European gardens and brimming with whimsical floral setups - this couple’s wedding mandap looked straight out of a fairytale!
A heady mix of glamour, stunning floral setups and whimsical elements made Radhika and Rishabh’s wedding in Kolkata resemble a fairytale. Designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Doli Diary, the union brimmed with vibrant hues that made each moment look picture-perfect!
Wedding Planning
Neha Wadhawan and Jinal Patel from The Doli Diary share, “The couple’s families hail from Siliguri where they own several tea estates and restaurants. The client had worked with us before and when it came to this wedding, they trusted us completely as they just briefed us about the colors that they’d prefer. Overall, the union was a right mix of glam, traditional and whimsical elements!”
Wedding Functions
Haldi
The celebrations kicked off with a haldi which followed the ‘Indian Summer Floral’ theme that went beautifully with the venue’s lotus ponds. Inspired by Durga Puja, the decor consisted of ethnic prints, bright blooms, cane furnishings and a whimsical swing where many of the couple’s portraits were taken.
Mehndi
For her mehndi, bride Radhika chose an intimate setup where comfort came first. Suspended blooms and metallic butterflies added a dash of whimsical charm to the sunlit venue. Additionally, baby pink accents contrasted beautifully with the larger-than-life fabric blooms behind the bridal seat.
Welcome Dinner
The welcome dinner carefully balanced vivid hues with glamorous elements. Ambient lights, blooms, mirrors, vintage bulbs and lively music put everyone in the mood to party as they geared up for the upcoming wedding celebrations.
Myrah
Scarlet hues dominated the color palette at the Myrah ceremony. Set off by ivory elements, the red hue was showcased via floral setups while soft dim lights added a sense of warmth to the ‘Vrindavan’ themed event. Earthen vases painted with white patterns and adorned with tuberoses were the centrepiece at each table.
Sangeet
The glamour levels were given a definite leg-up at the Morroccan-themed sangeet. With a buffet setup that resembled a bazaar in Marrakesh, the guests had a gala time enjoying the energetic performances. Moroccan lamps and lanterns cast a soft glow at the entrance and once inside, the guests were treated to an opulent golden and red setup!
Wedding
Neha and Jinal share, “For the wedding, we went for European botanical garden vibes with big juniper trees. The mystical 150ft pathways of greens and floral arches enchanted the guests as they stepped into the venue area. The modern yet ornate ‘Gazebo’ style mandap with suspended florals and foliage. Accentuating this was a chrome aisle with curved edges. And almost one lakh live candles and diyas were lit around the venue and were continuously manned by our team to keep them burning.”
