Raghavi and Prithvi, Avani+ Hua Hin Resort, Thailand
From a Money Heist themed mehndi to a Harry Potter themed wedding reception - this couple’s destination wedding in Thailand was a magical one!
Grand and highly detailed, Raghavi and Prithvi’s wedding in Thailand was an absolute stunner with a plethora of unique themes. Hosted by the seaside, this wedding was planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Keeran The Wedding Planner who with their keen insights understood the couple’s needs and customised a series of fun events. Photographing the events as they unfolded was WeddingSutra Favorite – Infinite Memories who were with the couple at every step of the way, capturing beautiful shots.
How They Met
Prithvi shares, “We crossed each other’s paths in Sydney one night. From there, I went to North and South America for a long trip with my mate and when I came back, Raghavi went to Europe with her friend. To our surprise, we stayed in touch and finally arranged our first date 8 weeks later at one of Sydney’s famous theme parks.”
The Proposal
Recollecting the proposal he orchestrated for Raghavi, Prithvi goes on to add, “After five amazing years together, I decided to do a magical surprise proposal in Hunter Valley in the Wine Region of Sydney. I told her that I won an experience through my work, made it sound really low-key, and took her for the drive to Hunter Valley. To her surprise, I told her it was a helicopter wine experience. We had an amazing flight to the Winery, where we got out, and I had her favourite song playing with a full picnic set up of ‘Will you marry me?’ “
Wedding Venue
To celebrate one of the biggest milestones of their relationship, the couple chose Thailand as their wedding destination. With the versatile landscape of Hua Hin, the wedding was an enchanting experience. Plus, Thailand’s keen understanding of Indian traditions made it easier for the couple to navigate a foreign landscape. Hosted at Avani+ Hua Hin Resort, the celebrations went ahead smoothly as the guests celebrated the couple’s love while indulging in gastronomic delights and stunning views.
Wedding Planning
Planning a destination wedding requires a skilful hand that can easily navigate around the intricate details. For Raghavi and Prithvi, Keeran The Wedding Planner understood their vision and amplified it with their creativity. Taking a cue the couple’s mutual love for the iconic Harry Potter book series and for the popular Netflix series ‘Money Heist’, the planning team customised each event with a unique theme that made it unforgettable!
Photographing the couple’s heartfelt moments and the spirit of the festivities was Infinite Memories who with their expertise impressed the duo. Prithvi shares, “Infinite Memories was one of the most professional vendors we dealt with. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and artistic skill were incredible. They went above and beyond to ensure they got the perfect shot and were extremely creative with making the most of the environment and props available. Aside from their professionalism and skill, they were extremely kind and fun to be around.”
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
Raghavi shares, “This was a sundowner mehndi by the pool event with a relaxed pool party vibe to kick off the festivities. The theme was ‘COLOUR ME WHITE, COLOUR ME LIGHT!’. LED arches welcomed the guests, an LED cube dancefloor, floating clouds suspended above the dancefloor, white lanterns hanging on a truss above the venue and white balloon balls floating in the pool made up the decor. And most importantly, did a surprise Money Heist re-enactment in the middle of the event. We requested the bartenders to change their outfits and dress up in the full red money heist costume and do a surprise hold-up of guests with a champagne gun. This was one of the key highlights of the whole wedding because it was interactive and so much fun!”
Haldi
For the haldi, the couple chose a simple and timeless decor of white and yellow blooms. Raghavi shares, “We wanted the haldi to be a no-frills event and hence, we went for white and yellow blooms that brightened up the venue. The special requests included gold urlis to sit in, giant yellow and white organza flowers, and a flower shower!”
Wedding
Raghavi shares, “The color palette for the big day was pastel pink and purples. The large wedding mandap overlooked the beach at sunset. And, the theme was ‘Tree of Life’. Giant organza flowers lined the aisle to the mandap. We also had a beautiful entrance arch made to match the theme. The night ended with a fireworks display along with a champagne toast.”
Reception
The couple shares, “We wanted the reception to be fun and transport everyone into a world of luxurious magic and fantasy. The theme was ‘Welcome to the Magical World of Prithvi and Raghavi’ – this was inspired by our love for Harry Potter and the wizarding world! Everything was themed, from a giant floor-to-ceiling chamber of secrets book entrance, wall-to-wall bookcase photo booth, and speciality Harry Potter-themed cocktails. Special requests included the bartenders wearing sorting hats, a giant multi-panelled LED screen to act as a backdrop to Hogwarts and transform into speciality LED lighting effects during the afterparty, and lots and lots of candles as part of the table settings!”
Advice For Couples
Having learnt from her own experience of planning a destination wedding, Raghavi shares a few tips, “The Photographer/Cinematographer captures the essence of the wedding, hence a professional and quality team is a must. Aside from that, the DJ is extremely critical to lock in asap as they get booked out. And for my beautiful Brides, my key advice would be to pick a MakeUp Artist who you trust and who makes you feel comfortable. I spent most of my wedding weekend with my MUA and not only did she outdo herself, but she acted as my therapist, cheerleader, and bff the whole time! Also, if you’re struggling in explaining your dress code to your wedding party we suggest creating Pinterest boards for each event and sharing it with them to give them some insight into the vibe you’re going for.”
