Wedding Venue
JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa in Thailand fit the bill perfectly for the destination wedding with its stunning surroundings, access to Mai Khao beach and opulently appointed rooms. Located only 20 minutes from Phuket International Airport – this venue made the commute easy for guests flying in from India and the UK. Plus, its indoor and outdoor venues gave the couple plenty of space to let their creativity run free.
Wedding Planning
The Wedding Network led at the helm planning every aspect of Rubani and Kabir’s destination wedding. Being keen on guest hospitality, the couple wanted their loved ones to feel the vibrant culture and hospitality of Thailand. The team from The Wedding Network shares, “Rubani and Kabir’s wedding was everything one expects in a grand Indian destination wedding. The guestlist featured several individuals flying in from the UK, hence, we wanted to give everyone ample time to recharge before the celebrations. A refreshing welcome lunch ensured that these guests had time to rejuvenate while adjusting to the tropical climate. Overall, the themes were globally inspired keeping the couple’s roots in mind.”
Wedding Functions
Welcome Lunch
Once the guests landed in Phuket, they were welcomed with customised coconut water featuring the couple’s monogram and blooms. Going perfectly in sync with the sunkissed weather of Thailand, the blooms artfully adorned the venue in hues of light orange, turquoise, lavender and pink. A sumptuous spread rejuvenated the guests. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of wishing the couple happiness and love always, there were a thousand origami cranes installed at the venue.
Sundowner
Inspired by ‘Cirque Le Soir’, a famous nightclub in London, the sundowner brimmed with hues of gold and scarlet. Pampas grass and red blooms added a touch of freshness to the design story. Flashing spotlights, vintage bulbs and a vast dancefloor ensured everyone was in high spirits throughout the evening.
Haldi
Themed around a carnival, the haldi was far from traditional. With hues, like, aqua, peach, pink and orange adorning the outdoor venue everything looked right at home against the backdrop of the ocean waves. Stalls with coconut water, sunglasses and hats kept the guests cool. On the other hand games of beer pong and dunk tank provided plenty of entertainment.
Varmala and Sangeet
A day before the big day, the couple decided to exchange varmalas at dusk under a dramatic sky dotted with clouds. An aisle lined with gypsos and life-like floral elephant-shaped installations in white hues along with a 1000 diyas gave the venue a magical vibe. Once the couple exchanged garlands, they swiftly moved indoors to celebrate a glam and fun sangeet where everyone shook a leg regardless of age!
Wedding
Soft baby pink and lilac drapes that flowed with the sea breeze sheltered the guests as they attended the solemn Sikh wedding ceremony. Wide pink mattresses with matching bolster pillows made everyone comfortable as the bride walked the white-hued aisle. The light blue sea in the background contrasted perfectly with the pink hues at the ceremony.
Reception
As evening fell, everyone geared up for the last celebration which turned out to be an absolute blast with its luxurious decor and customised cocktails. The theme of the event was inspired by the iconic Hollywood movie ‘The Godfather’ and it used an excess of white blooms, tall candle stands, chandeliers and posters of the movie’s most memorable moments.
