Sahiba and Anirudh, The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur

A childhood dream comes true with band, baaja, and baraat!

Sahiba Sidhu Dulai, a Project Leader at BCG and angel investor married Anirudh Vinesh Bakhru, an Illinois-based internal medicine specialist. Their story began with a swipe that grew into a long-distance romance between Chicago and New York. Anirudh later surprised Sahiba with a proposal in Central Park, where rose petals framed a life-changing question. Their Udaipur destination wedding curated by WeddingSutra Favorite – Morani & Soorma, marked the beginning of their fairy tale together.

Wedding Planning
Noureen Morani and Karan Soorma, of Morani and Soorma, say, “The couple envisioned each event as an immersive experience—an expression of their personalities and shared passions.” The choice of the venue also has a special story attached to it. As a young girl, Sahiba had visited Udaivilas and declared it her dream wedding venue. Years later, this dream became a reality—complete with videos of her running through its grand corridors.
The wedding also saw personalized details that made the guest experience special. Guests received wooden boxes resembling books, each containing a photo, a handwritten note, and a “ticket” to a table named after a special date in the couple’s journey. Each guest also received a Diptyque Baies candle—echoing the very first gift Anirudh gave Sahiba—along with a heartfelt thank-you note. This wasnt’ all.
With each event came unique napkins—navy with gold lettering at the Sangeet, pink with a screenshot of a key text for the Haldi, and ivory napkins with “Two Truths and a Lie” at the Reception—turning details into memories.

Sangeet
The Sangeet décor was inspired by Sahiba’s love for Bollywood. The décor paid tribute to Indian cinema with playful memorabilia and subtle film references set against a deep blue palette. Florals in green, blue, and purple added a cool, unconventional edge.

Haldi
The Haldi and Mehendi were a lakeside celebration, styled like a Punjabi pind, filled with colour and flowers, with a mix of playful Manga-style artwork. Held serendipitously on Holi, it featured a Phoolon ki Holi and a detox bar for guests recovering from the previous night.

Sufi Night
The Sufi night was a night of soul and serenade. To honor both their fathers’ love for Sufi music, Anirudh and Sahiba hosted an evening with mellow vibes. The music floated through the air as friends and family sat back, sipped on cocktails, and let the soulful tunes take over.

Wedding
Held against an elegant and serene backdrop, the wedding ceremony blended both Sikh and Hindu customs. The couple had a heartfelt Jaimala before their Anand Karaj, followed by a short, sweet Vidaai and pooja from Anirudh’s mother’s side.
Sahiba wore a custom Manish Malhotra lehenga that was a mix of deep red and soft pink. Her outfit was embroidered with a personal touch: the mantra “Tohi Mohi, Mohi Tohi”(meaning ‘you are me and I am you’) wrapped around the hem in delicate Punjabi script. Alongside it? The names of those who raised her. Anirudh’s name was woven into the fabric, like a walking love letter.
Sahiba wore four generations of heirloom jewellery, including pieces over 130 years old from both her royal and farming roots. Her look was nothing short of regal.

Reception
The Udaipur reception was themed ‘Sheesh Mahal’ with dreamy ivory-and-gold decor, lit up by pops of pink and layers of personal touches.
In the Udaivilas forecourt, the couple’s love story was projection-mapped onto the palace walls—culminating in their dramatic entry through the screen in a Bollywood-style pose.
Custom cocktails stole the show! Signature drinks like “The Lazy Girl” (a Sahiba classic) and “Doctor’s Orders” (for our groom-on-call) brought the LOLs and love. There were also city-inspired sips like “The Big Apple” and “The 6ix”, honouring their New York and Toronto connections. Themed bars, named “Martinis in Manhattan” and “Balle Balle Bellini”, kept the energy sky-high. And the afterparty was a nostalgic recreation of their favourite college clubs.
