Sanjay and Karishma, Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, Thailand
This Sindhi wedding held in Thailand had hints of Spain and London and a whole lot of Indian traditions to create one lively, multi-culti celebration.
Sanjay and Karishma’s nuptials at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel in Thailand were meticulously planned and executed by WeddingSutra Favorite Pink Palki while WeddingSutra Favorite, Moor Designs created their lovely wedding invitations. Here, bride Karishma shares with us the highlights of their beautiful celebrations.
How we met
“Sanjay and I met in June 2016 over dinner in Malaga. I’m quite shy and take time to open up so I imagined our conversation would be stilted. Little did I know that Sanjay could talk about anything and make you feel comfortable in seconds! We spoke for three hours straight, traded numbers and the rest is our own special history.”
The Proposal
“We had a long distance relationship but in August 2017, while we were FaceTiming the conversation drifted into what it would be like if we were ever to get married and what the wedding would be like. Sanjay is super spontaneous and he said, ‘I think we are ready to get married. Karishma, will you marry me?’ And that was our unique proposal over FaceTime!
With the wedding preparations in full swing, I had completely forgotten about his promise of a dreamy proposal to me. At our engagement ceremony just before exchanging our vows and rings, he bent down on one knee in front of a crowd of 200 people and popped the question which was followed by a rose petal and bubble blast.”
Wedding Planning
“Pink Palki are like family to us now. They lived up to our expectations and truly delivered a memorable wedding! We couldn’t have imagined having such a magical celebration without them by our side.”
Wedding Venue
“We decided on the beautiful Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel. The property is located right in the heart of Bangkok and both the hospitality and the venue cannot be described in words. It is probably the most beautifully maintained property in all of Bangkok and hence one of our favorites.”
Wedding Functions
Janya
“This was our first event, so we also focused on welcoming our guests. The decor was mainly yellow and orange as it was a daytime celebration with a beautiful Ganpati backdrop.”
Engagement
“We wanted our décor to be lush with red and gold flowers. We had a grand entrance with Thai candle dancers that left everyone in awe and set the standard high for the forthcoming events.”
Mehndi – La Vida Es Un Carnaval
“For the mehndi everyone chilled out on the rooftop by the pool. There was a massage corner, beer pong, coconuts embossed with the SK logo and live stations whipping up delicious cuisines from all around the world. The décor was all shades of pink and orange with an amazing oversized wedding hashtag (#theSKmagic) placed by the pool. It was definitely the highlight of the event.”
Sangeet – Une Soiree Extravagante
“As the name suggests, we wanted the sangeet to be spectacular and extravagant. The décor was blue and gold, which matched our logo. The entrance had a beautiful blue and gold backdrop lit with candles. Each table had baby photos of Sanjay and me. There was a huge LED screen by the stage for all our guests to enjoy the performances. The performances by our parents, friends, cousins and extended family made the sangeet truly unforgettable and memorable.”
Pheras – SK Thai the Knot
“The day started with Sanjay’s baarat and we had our own dholwalas that started playing Sanjay’s favorite Spanish/Hip-Hop tunes with an Indian twist from the foyer of the hotel all the way down to where he had a beautiful Porsche 911 Carrera waiting for him. Special mixed drinks in customized SK Magic bottles kept the crowd hydrated and raring to go. Our mandap was all shades of peach and gold with a big chandelier hanging from the top and a Ganpati in acrylic to bless us on this auspicious occasion. The pathway to the mandap was set up with rose petals and candles to add a bit of a western touch to the wedding.”
Reception
“At the entrance to the ballroom, we had an oversized fairy-tale book backdrop perfect for a photo-op. We incorporated the Winter Wonderland in London theme into our décor because we’re moving to London after the wedding. The stage had white chandeliers, flowers, a 5-tier white wedding cake and even smoke machines. We made a grand entry with a saxophonist jamming with our DJ and dancers behind us on our way to the stage.”
Advice for Couples
“Wedding planning is definitely stressful but with the right team you’ll have the support of your wedding planner, photographers and other creatives involved in the wedding process. It makes the work a lot easier. Relax and enjoy! It is something you will always remember for the rest of your life. Make sure it is the sweetest memory of your lives!”
