Sara and Tariq, Samode Bagh and Palace, Jaipur

At this wedding, tradition and craft came together to weave a story of sensory excellence.

Set against the timeless grandeur of Jaipur, the wedding of Sara, daughter of fashion designer Azeem Khan, and Tariq, whose father is a perfumer, was a beautiful blend of royal Rajasthani charm, intimate celebrations and unforgettable festivities. Held over two days at Jaipur’s Samode Palace and Samode Bagh, each celebration was thoughtfully curated, honoring the heritage of the two families. As a special touch, guests were given a specially created fragrance called Nazneen, giving everyone something sensory to remember the festivities by.

Wedding Planning
Sara and Tariq have known each other since childhood. They first met as schoolmates and, over the years, became friends. Their relationship grew from the roots of this friendship.
Sara comes from the royal families of Loharu and Mangrol in Kathiawar. Her father is the well-known designer Azeem Khan, and her uncle is internationally renowned designer Naeem Khan. This meant that she grew up surrounded by design, textiles and craftsmanship. For the wedding, that connection became even more personal, with her family creating some of her clothes for the celebrations. Sara also wore Sabyasachi, a designer she has admired since childhood and who has greatly influenced her perspective on fashion.
Tariq’s father is a perfumer, and his family has been immersed in the art of attar and Indian perfumery for generations, with roots in Rajasthan. Sara says, “I have always loved the poetry of that contrast—my family carrying histories of royalty and fashion, and Tariq’s carrying generations of fragrance and craftsmanship.”
Brought to life with careful curation by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Wedding Trunk, the wedding was as much about the coming together of two families as it was about the coming together of two creative traditions and generations of history, while still celebrating the couple at the heart of it.
The wedding invites were crafted by WeddingSutra Favorite – Mubaarak Studio, while the in-room hampers by WeddingSutra Favorite – Aarti’s Kitchen kept the guests comfortable at all hours of the day.

Wedding Functions
Guest Welcome
The guests were received with a traditional Rajasthani welcome, complete with flower showers, Rajasthani folk dancers, dhol and nagara players, a Kachhi Ghodi performance, and aartis and tilaks. Guests were also greeted with refreshing lemon water, tea and coffee, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and cared for from the very first moment.

Haldi
The first day began at Samode Bagh with a vibrant and traditional Haldi celebration. The décor, beautifully executed by the Samode Bagh team, brought the spirit of Rajasthan to life with abundant yellow marigolds and a charming jhula for the bride and groom. The celebration soon turned into a joyful Phoolon Ki Holi, with flowers filling the air and guests joining in the festivities.

Adding to the nostalgic charm were little old-school candy stalls, juttis and dupattas, along with indulgent dessert counters featuring kulfi and paan, even as mehendi artistes worked their magic.

Sangeet
Held on the lawns of Samode Palace, the Sangeet was a beautiful celebration against the night sky. The couple’s personalized logo was projected onto the palace walls through gobo lighting, adding a distinctive touch to the evening.
The stage came alive with performances by family and friends, followed by special performances by the bride and groom. As the couple made their entrance, cold pyro effects added a dramatic flourish to the evening.
The festivities continued late into the night, with WeddingSutra Favorite – DJ Shann Gidwani taking over the console.

Baraat and Nikah
Tariq arrived in a stunning vintage car, accompanied by a traditional band and a horse. Before the procession, guests participated in the traditional safa bandhani ceremony. The wedding décor was an ode to understated royalty. With rajnigandhas, mogras, candles and deep red roses, the setting felt almost like a scene from a fairytale.
As per customs, Sara and Tariq did not see each other before the ceremony. One of the most beautiful traditions was the couple’s first glimpse of each other through a mirror after the Nikah.
The evening continued over dinner, accompanied by heartfelt speeches from family, friends, Sara and Tariq. The night concluded with a live performance by Bux Khan, which had the guests thoroughly entertained and enjoying every moment.
