Sherina and Amit’s joyous destination wedding in the beautiful locale of Khao Lak was a celebration of not just their love but also their unique journey. How they met
Sherina and Amit’s love story began in a way that seems almost old-fashioned in today’s fast-paced digital world. Sherina shares, “It started during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when the world was shutting down. Our mutual friends played matchmakers, each telling the other, “I have a nice girl” and “I have a nice guy, let’s try to fix them up together.” Amit was in Vancouver, and I was in Hong Kong, and initially, we both hated the idea of long-distance. However, a week later, when Amit sent me a message on Instagram, we instantly clicked and just never stopped talking! For a year, we spoke every day and tried to meet several times, but it just wasn’t possible. Despite the distance, our connection grew stronger. We exchanged “I love you’s” and remained steadfastly committed to each other.”
She continues, “For nearly a year, we dated without ever having met in real life. Then, finally, in February 2022, we managed to meet in Singapore. I don’t think I’ve ever been more nervous in my life. The moment was magical. We spent three incredible weeks together, making up for lost time. We were inseparable, traveling together, and introducing each other to friends and family. It felt like a year’s relationship was condensed into those three amazing weeks. So at the end of our trip, we made a big decision. We couldn’t bear the thought of going back to long-distance, so a few months later, we packed our bags, said goodbye to our friends and family, and moved to London to be together. It was a bold move, but we wanted to take that risk. Eight months after our move, Amit proposed, and of course, I said yes. Our journey from being strangers on Instagram to building a life together in London has been nothing short of extraordinary.”
Wedding Venue

Wedding Planning
The wedding was a reflection of Sherina and Amit’s international love story, spanning from Vancouver to Hong Kong, with their first meeting in Singapore and eventually moving to London. To capture the essence of their journey, the couple themed their wedding around the concept of “Travel through the Four Seasons with Us,” integrating elements from their relationship and seasons into each of their four main functions. Emcee Vishaal Rasquinha lent his anchoring prowess to take the functions to the next level, and Pink Palki planned and managed the details of their celebration.
Sejal Sachnakul of Makeovers by Sejal gave the bride breathtaking makeup and hair looks for each of her functions. Sherina shares, “While there are many incredible makeup artists out there, Sejal is unique because she makes you feel beautiful from within, despite any insecurities you might have. She listens to your every need, and if she wants to try something new, she always ensures she has the bride’s sign-off, making sure you still feel comfortable in your own skin. My main rule was, “Don’t make me look like someone else.” Sejal respected this and made me look like the best version of myself. She is incredibly professional, discussing looks and hairstyles well in advance so no time is wasted on the day. Moreover, she provided a full diet and skincare regimen from the moment she was hired, helping to uplift my skin before my big day. This attention to detail and care went beyond her duties as a makeup artist and showed her dedication to making me feel and look my best.”
The team of Sunny Dhiman Photography was tasked with capturing their special moments. The couple shares, “Working with Sunny Dhiman and his team was an absolute pleasure and an experience we will always cherish. Sunny’s professionalism was unparalleled, even when dealing with us—a very impatient couple who weren’t keen on long photoshoots. He instinctively knew which poses and locations would work best for us, capturing the most stunning shots within the limited time we had allotted. Even before the wedding, Shweta Dhiman played a crucial role in liaising with us, understanding our vision, and organizing everything meticulously. Her efforts made the pre-wedding process incredibly smooth and stress-free, allowing us to focus on other aspects of the wedding. The team was super responsive and prompt, delivering our raw wedding photos just two weeks after the event and the edited photos within a month. Their efficiency and dedication were truly impressive.”
They add, “Sunny Dhiman himself is one of the nicest and most polite individuals you could hope to work with. No matter when we needed him, he was always there, ready to assist. He encouraged us to step out of our comfort zones for certain poses. While we were initially a bit apprehensive, Sunny’s expertise shone through, as those exact poses ended up being some of our best photos. We are thrilled with the results and would highly recommend Sunny Dhiman and his team to all future brides and grooms. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and incredible talent made our wedding photography experience unforgettable.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The festivities started on a high with a lively pool party by the beach, brimming with pops of colors and playful summer vibes. The bright, vibrant decorations saw colorful drapes, floral arrangements, and fun beachy elements. Dressed in matching tropical-inspired ensembles, the bride and groom made a fun entry on a rickshaw as their friends held up smoke bombs. Guests enjoyed themselves and got their hands painted with beautiful henna designs.
Haldi
Sangeet
Embodying the spirit of autumn, the Sangeet evening was imagined in a rich, warm palette of maroon, orange, yellow, and red colors. In a nod to Canada, the venue was adorned with maple leaves, fairy lights, and mini chandeliers, creating a cozy, warm atmosphere. In keeping with the theme, the groom wore a stunning maroon embroidered achkan while the bride dazzled in a gold lehenga, and they set the stage on fire.
Pheras
Imbibed with the demure aura of spring, the wedding came alive in an enchanting garden setup with soft pastel flowers, butterflies, and elegant floral arches, symbolizing new beginnings and growth. Sherina looked every bit the quintessential Indian bride in a red lehenga, while the groom looked stately in a cream sherwani as they tied the knot.
Reception
Transporting the guests to a snowy wonderland, the wintry Reception was bedecked with shimmering snowflakes and misty effects that added a layer of magic to the elegant decor of white and black. Bare trees stood amidst the tables and a canopy of white flowers and drapes covered the dance floor to add another dimension to the winter-inspired decor, In keeping with the theme, the groom rocked a black tuxedo with silver detailing while the bride looked divine in a white indo-western saree.
After Party
The festivities continued with a riveting and filmy after-party. Inspired by Amit’s career in the Hollywood industry and Sherina’s immense love for Bollywood, the ballroom was transformed into a retro movie theater with classic film posters, a red carpet entrance, and dramatic lighting, the perfect cinematic end to the celebrations.
Advice for couples
1. “Schedule dedicated time for photoshoots and video shoots throughout your wedding events. It might feel exhausting at the moment, but when you see your photos, it’s so worth it. Also, discuss with your photographer and videographer in advance about the specific shots you want. Having a plan helps streamline the process and ensures you don’t miss any important moments.
2. Take advantage of natural light for your photos and videos. Outdoor settings and daylight provide the best lighting, making your pictures vibrant and timeless. Plan your schedule to include time for outdoor shoots, especially during the golden hour for the most flattering light.
3. Finally, once you arrive at your wedding destination, let go of the stress and trust that everything will fall into place. You’ve done all the planning, now it’s time to enjoy all your hard work.”
