Shivani and Raunak, Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort

Blending Bangkok's bustling city charm with contemporary decor, this couple’s riverside wedding was vibrant and relaxed.

Set against the tropical backdrop of Thailand, Shivani and Raunak’s wedding was thoughtfully envisioned and seamlessly executed by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Wedding Network, the celebration reflected the couple’s love for art, music and intimate storytelling.

Wedding Venue
Choosing Thailand felt instinctive for the couple. Warm, welcoming and visually striking, it offered the ease of a destination wedding without compromising on comfort for its guests. The couple chose a venue along the Chao Phraya River, for its tropical charm and understated luxury.

Wedding Planning
For Shivani and Raunak, the wedding was always meant to feel personal and thoughtfully composed. It was the small, meaningful details that mattered most, from the music chosen for their wedding invites to the carefully curated décor themes and the emotional undercurrents that tied everything together. Drawing inspiration from the things they genuinely love, such as music, art, libraries, the intimacy of a speakeasy and well-crafted cocktails, the couple allowed these influences to shape the atmosphere of each event. Knowing how swiftly the days would pass, their focus remained on crafting memories that would endure not just as an event but as a feeling.

Working closely with The Wedding Network, the process felt collaborative and immersive. Annika Talwar from the planning team shares, “We were involved in the process from the word go, conceptualisation, design ideas and the overall flow of all the events. Every detail was carefully considered to ensure the wedding felt cohesive and reflective of Shivani and Raunak’s personalities.”

Wedding Functions
Welcome Lunch & Mehndi
The festivities commenced on an artistic note with a Welcome Lunch and Mehndi inspired by arts and crafts, a subtle homage to Shivani’s mother, an artist. The décor featured soft watercolour washes across the space, complemented by flowing fabrics that moved gently in the breeze. Delicate hues, painterly textures and handcrafted elements lent the afternoon an intimate charm.

Sangeet
The Sangeet transported guests into a setting inspired by the library at Harvard University. Rich shades of brown, ombré accents and deep olive greens set the tone, while stacks of books and layered textures created a strong literary aesthetic. The space evoked the warmth of an old-world reading room reimagined for a night of music and revelry. Subtle lighting heightened the speakeasy vibe, making the evening feel sophisticated yet inviting.
As the night progressed, the after-party shifted into a raw boiler room-inspired setting that pulsed with energy. Industrial elements, moody lighting and immersive sound transformed the atmosphere into an underground celebration where guests danced well into the night.

Wedding
The wedding ceremony embraced grandeur in its most majestic form. Set at the Grand Sala of Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, The mandap stood against the riverside backdrop with quiet authority. Ornate detailing, structured floral arrangements and a thoughtfully designed layout created a setting that felt timeless and stately. The scale of the space amplified the sacredness of the rituals, while the open sky and flowing river balanced the visual richness with a sense of calm.
