Shivani Wadettiwar and Abhisar Agne, Taj Aravali Resort & Spa, Udaipur
Rooted in their Maharashtrian heritage, this couple brought the spirit of Nagpur to their Udaipur wedding!
Shivani Wadettiwar, General Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress, and Abhisar Agne celebrated their wedding with a three-day destination celebration at Taj Aravali Resort & Spa, Udaipur. Designed and planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – DB and Spaces, the wedding brought together distinctive themes, thoughtful details and Maharashtrian traditions, with each celebration reflecting a different aspect of the couple’s story.

How They Met
Born and raised in Nagpur, Shivani Wadettiwar and Abhisar Agne grew up as neighbours, with their families sharing a long-standing familiarity. Their lives continued to intersect over the years, but it was only later that their friendship evolved into something deeper. Shivani, known for her youth leadership and public presence across Maharashtra, and Abhisar, who is associated with Nagpur’s real estate and infrastructure landscape, continue to call the city home. Their wedding was a natural extension of a relationship that had its roots in familiarity, friendship and a shared sense of home.

Wedding Venue
Shivani had always envisioned a resort-style wedding where guests could come together over several days and experience the celebrations as a journey. Udaipur, with its rich wedding legacy and scenic surroundings, was a natural choice for the three-day May wedding. For their 350-plus guests, Taj Aravali Resort & Spa offered expansive spaces, views of the Aravalli hills and the scale required for a grand celebration while retaining an intimate atmosphere. Over three days, the resort provided a versatile backdrop for the wedding’s varied celebrations, allowing each event to have its own identity while bringing the festivities together seamlessly.
Wedding Planning
Designed and planned by DB and Spaces, the wedding was built around the couple’s personalities, shared history and Maharashtrian heritage. Each celebration was conceived as its own experience, with the décor and details telling a different part of their story. “The idea was to make every event feel like a reflection of Shivani and Abhisar, while ensuring that the guest experience remained seamless throughout,” shares Dakshita Batla of DB and Spaces.
The team also brought elements of Nagpur into the celebrations. A speciality coffee experience was flown in from the couple’s hometown and served to guests across the three days. “We wanted to bring little pieces of home to Udaipur. The coffee experience was one such detail, and it became a lovely way of keeping their roots present throughout the celebrations,” adds Dakshita.
For Shivani, the wedding was also an opportunity to celebrate away from the public spotlight. Her connection with her family, attention to her guests and commitment to tradition came through in the celebrations, with DB and Spaces balancing personal details with the scale of a destination wedding.

Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
The celebrations began with a Gatsby-inspired Welcome Dinner. Black, gold and deep red set the tone, while warm lighting and vintage-inspired details brought a sense of old-world glamour to the evening. A life-sized installation of the couple’s initials added a personal touch to the setting, creating an elegant opening to the festivities.

Sangeet
The Sangeet drew inspiration from the couple’s love for the ocean, transforming the space into an underwater world. Sculptural installations inspired by underwater rock formations were paired with layered textures, reflective surfaces and atmospheric lighting. The result was an immersive setting that gave the evening a distinct visual identity while staying connected to something personal to the couple.

Haldi
The Haldi celebrated ‘Bachpan Ki Yaadein’, drawing from Shivani and Abhisar’s childhood memories of growing up as neighbours. Nostalgic touches included churan counters, old-school tattoo bars and playful interactive stations that brought the theme to life. Details featuring the couple’s beloved dogs added a personal touch, while a life-sized installation of their initials, A and S, represented the coming together of two families and two lives.

Wedding
The wedding ceremony brought the focus firmly back to tradition, with Maharashtrian customs and live Mangalashtak recitals taking centre stage. Specially invited Marathi artists performed the traditional verses as the rituals unfolded. The setting took cues from classical architecture, with a 24-foot all-white floral dome mandap serving as the centrepiece. Layered with white blooms, the mandap created a sophisticated setting that complemented the traditional ceremony while allowing the rituals to remain the focus.
