Unfazed by the heavy rains, this couple and their wedding squad orchestrated a series of beautiful events at this destination wedding in Udaipur.
Offering a clear view of the Aravalli peaks and a shimmering lake, Shreya and Prateek’s wedding looked like a fairytale come true with its vibrant events and happy moments. Capturing the unbridled joy of the couple as they tied the knot was WeddingSutra Favorite – Movie’ing Moments who were with the couple at every step of the way as they embarked on their new beginning! Helming the design front was WeddingSutra Favorite – Designs by Sakshi Jerath who with their creative flair and attention to detail left everyone in awe.
How They Met
Prateek shares, “Shreya’s maternal aunt used to work with my parents. Before I left for Los Angeles, Shreya was referred to me as a point of contact in the new country. As time flew by, both of us became the best of friends which then transitioned into love.” The pair started dating in 2010 and have been inseparable ever since despite living on opposite sides of the world.
The Proposal
In order to celebrate Diwali in 2020, Shreya traveled to Mumbai to visit Prateek and his family. Prateek in turn surprised her by whisking her off to the Maldives where he popped the question by the beach against a dramatic sunset. Needless to say, an excited Shreya immediately said ‘yes!’.
Wedding Planning
Shreya shares, “All the functions were to be held outdoors. However, an unexpected bout of heavy rainfall compelled us to change our plans. Luckily Prateek’s father was present to oversee everything and smoothly handled all the challenges while both of us dealt with canceled flights that delayed our travel schedule. Despite these obstacles, everything went ahead efficiently and we ended up with beautiful weather on our big day!” When it comes to weddings, the smallest of moments count, so to ensure that all their memories were documented in stunning frames, the duo chose Movie’ing Moments who used their expertise behind the camera and gave them fabulous shots throughout. The happy bride gushes, “Team Movie’ing Moments managed to capture every moment of the festivities so seamlessly. In fact, we didn’t feel camera-shy at all. They took the time to understand our vision and noted down the details we wanted captured. Their entire team worked very hard to personalize our experience.”
And, to bring their dream wedding to life, the couple roped in Designs by Sakshi Jerath in their wedding squad who with their innovation and aesthetic expertise crafted each event with utmost care. Be it a vibrant mehndi or the dreamy wedding, no stone was left unturned in their quest to create the perfect wedding for the couple. Sakshi from Designs by Sakshi Jerath shares, “ The groom’s dad was keen on creating an extravagant event that would exude larger-than-life vibes. Taking a cue from this, we looked into every single detail and created a magical atmosphere!” Recollecting the challenges they faced she goes on to add, “ Being an island venue, the transportation of the equipment was quite a challenge along with the unfavorable weather conditions. However, the team was unfazed as events that were scheduled outdoors were moved indoors. Everything was pulled off with finesse. All the events were scheduled to be hosted at outdoor venues and large setups were orchestrated for each function. As it started raining, we moved the mehndi event to the restaurant and even the wedding venue was shifted as we built a mandap on the water body. A whopping 125-150 trucks carried the load to and fro in order to ensure that everything was perfect despite the last-minute changes!”
Weddings Functions
Mehndi
A peppy occasion where Shreya was at her groovy best, the Mehndi lifted everyone’s spirits despite the cloudy sky. Dancing to the beats of the Dhol with her henna patterned palms held aloft, the bride looked radiant in an orange indo-western sharara set which she paired with an intricately embroidered cape. The couple and their loved ones had a gala time as they made merry surrounded by floral decor elements with a clear view of the surrounding hills.
Sangeet
Glitzy and adorned with modern decor elements, the Sangeet consisted of a colossal stage on which the couple performed a memorable dance number. Additionally, the dance floor was decorated with suspended white flowers and surrounded by twinkling lights. Looking beautiful in a glamorous gold lehenga with intricate mirror work, Shreya was all smiles as she shook a leg with Prateek who’d donned a bottle green velvet bandhgala.
Wedding
With the clouds clearing up to reveal an azure sky, the outdoor Wedding was a sunkissed one. The highlight however, was the mandap with its pristine white pillars and latticework roof which was decorated with white, red, and pink colored floral arrangements. For her big day, Shreya chose a classic lehenga which she paired with emerald and kundan encrusted jewelry. Prateek looked dapper in a white sherwani that contrasted his bride.
Reception
Lit up by scores of lights that bathed the venue in a golden glow, the reception emanated glamour. Cheered on by their loved ones, the couple executed a graceful waltz on the dancefloor and cut a cake to celebrate the occasion.
Advice For Couples
The couple shares, “Enjoy every moment of planning! It can be a stressful time, but the moments you spend with your family are invaluable. Remember that everyone involved, cares about you deeply and also for your big day. Most importantly, realize that everything goes by in the blink of an eye. So remember to enjoy it all, and also revel in each other’s company.”
