To capture the festivities they had on board WeddingSutra Favorite – WeddingNama. Bride Silky shares some interesting details of the celebrations.
How We Met
“Labham and I met through our respective families, got to know each other for a few months and eventually just knew this was it!”
Proposal
“Labham proposed to me at Nargarh Jaipur where he booked a private dining space. He got me a huge flower bouquet with my name on it and Sufi musicians serenaded us with their beautiful music all through our romantic meal. It was the perfect night!”
Wedding Venue
“Our wedding was held at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat, Oman. I am from Hong Kong with my roots in Jaipur, Rajasthan. I wanted a wedding destination which would be different and fun for the guests too. Muscat happened to be a place that not a lot of our guests had been to, and given the fact that it is such a beautiful location, it made perfect sense for us to host our nuptials there.”
Wedding Planning
“We chose WeddingNama to capture our celebrations as we had heard such great reviews about them. When I saw their work on Instagram, I loved all of it. Our wedding invites were designed by Izhar by Core Designs. I picked Nina Ubhi as my makeup artist for the wedding.”
Wedding Functions
Welcome Lunch
“To kick off the wedding celebrations, we hosted a ‘Welcome Lunch’ that was vibrant with colorful decorations. We hosted it outdoors so that our guests could get a chance to take in the beauty that Muscat and the hotel had to offer. Labham and I entered this beachside venue of the property flanked by ‘dhol’ (traditional drum) players. For this function, I wore a white outfit and Labham wore a navy blue kurta.”
Sangeet
“The theme for our sangeet was ‘Wonderland,’ and this was an unstoppable dance party! We had performances by family and friends after which the floor was declared open for all to bring on their best moves. We had invited Badshah, and his music got everyone grooving. For this event, our guests had dressed up in gowns and suits/tuxedos. I opted for a stunning pink and white creation by Manish Malhotra while Labham wore a black tuxedo.”
Moroccan Fiesta
“Since we had our wedding in Oman, it was only fitting for us to give our guests a glimpse of the Middle Eastern culture. So, we planned a lunch that brought them the true flavors of the Middle East. We had belly dancers, tanoura performers, stalls with ethnic clothing, a live band playing and lots more. This function was packed with activities and had everyone thoroughly entertained. The dress code for the event was white. I wore a white ballgown with a tiara and felt every bit like a princess. Labham wore a suit in the same color.”
Wedding
“We had a day wedding that took place on the hotel’s lawn that offers a view of the open waters. The setting, in my opinion, was just dreamy. We had a white mandap against the blue backdrop of the sea and sky, and the overall color scheme was derived from a pastel palette. Both of us opted for light colors for our pheras. I wore a pink and white lehenga designed by Sabyasachi while he opted for an off-white sherwani with floral threadwork.”
Reception
“This was an event held under the stars with purple and yellow lights projected on the walls of our venue. A golden and red lehenga by Tarun Tahilliani was my pick for this function, and Labham opted for a beige sherwani.”
