From a cruise party to a local flea market experience, this wedding enjoyed the tradition of an Indian wedding and the immersive experience of a new destination.
A pool party, a beachside haldi, and a wedding that celebrated local material… Srishti and Anant’s destination wedding celebrated all things Vietnam. Curated carefully by the team at WeddingSutra Favorite – Zesst Events and Weddings, each function had a unique theme and décor palette, starting with a vibrant yet relaxed welcome lunch to an open-air wedding.
Wedding Planning
Aakash Doshi of Zesst Events and Weddings says, “We planned the wedding after 4-5 visits to the venue. The whole plan was executed with a team of just 20 people. The celebration started at the mainland, and the guests checked in at the mainland lobby and then took an eight-minute ferry to the island hotel. One of the highlights was the pool party, which was something the family wanted and even scouted for a pool area that would be large enough to accommodate all guests.”
Pool party
The first event was the pool party, which had a limoncello décor theme. The day-time event had hat and sunglasses stations so that the guests could relax in the tropical sun in comfort. Citrus drinks and fruits, and coconuts with the couple’s name, made for refreshing moments.
Sangeet
A more formal event, the sangeet saw the couple and guests dressed to the nines. Warm memories mixed with fun performances on stage. A décor of red, added a note of regality to the evening. Each guest was also given a customised menu.
Vietnamese Flea Market and cruise party
To give the guests a glimpse of local culture, the planners also curated a Vietnamese Flea Market. Local sun hats, kite-flying sessions, stick dancing, and other games made it an engaging day for all.
The evening brought in an entirely different experience altogether. All 450 guests were taken aboard a cruise boat, giving them a 360-degree view of Halong Bay City. The party was a glamorous evening with music by Mihir Chandan, getting everyone in a celebratory mood.
The evening’s highlight was the 10-minute fireworks by Halong Bay City which was a surprise to the guests and even the couple.
Haldi
The beachside haldi dawned as a bright day. The sands, blue skies and the haldi rituals together brought out the playfulness among the guests. Let’s just say it wasn’t just haldi that was applied freely on the couple!
Wedding
With material for the wedding sourced locally, this wedding truly celebrated its destination. The simple mandap, adorned with white flowers, was stunning. The bride surprised everyone by entering to a song, pre-recorded in her own voice.
The wedding was followed by dinner at the same beach, accompanied by a performance by Bombay Blush, marking a perfect ending to three amazing days.
