Wedding Planning
For the couple, the vision was clear: a wedding that fused the vibrancy of Indian traditions with the elegance of a civil ceremony. From elephant statues and vibrant linens flown in from India to British summer blooms sourced locally, every detail spoke of balance and customisation. Personal touches like ‘The Crumble Chronicles’ newsletter and quirky hangover kits added a dash of warmth and humour.

“The challenge was aligning two very different planning sensibilities,” shares Damini Oberoi from Q Events and Weddings. “Convincing English vendors to embrace the scale and joyous chaos of Indian weddings took patience, but once it came together, it felt magical.” With fabrics, florals, and ideas weaving across borders, the result was an effortless harmony of tradition and modernity. For the planning and design team, it was a milestone as their very first international project, shaped by bonds forged with the Rishi’s family in Kerala.

Wedding Functions
Sports Day
The weekend began with playful rivalry as Team Bride and Team Groom competed in tug-of-war and lemon-and-spoon races, followed by a classic Pimm’s session. Laughter, camaraderie, and a touch of the classic British summer charm set the perfect mood.

Mehndi and Sangeet
The Mehndi brought a burst of pinks and oranges, Indian folk music, draped gazebos, and colourful giveaways against the rustic countryside backdrop. In short, it was ‘DDLJ’ charm with an English twist. By nightfall, the Sangeet glowed indoors with a red-draped ballroom, a striking dance floor, and performances that fused Bollywood beats with English classics. “We created intimate seating so everyone could be drawn into the energy of the dance floor,” says Damini. The night peaked with glowing garba sticks and cross-cultural dance lessons!

Wedding
The morning wedding blended sacred tradition with theatrical detail. Classical music by artists filled the air as Rishi’s baraat, complete with dhol beats and a yellow-and-black tuk-tuk, electrified the countryside. Victoria’s entry was accompanied by verses from the Tulsi Ramayana. Ritual cards placed at every seat helped guests engage with the ceremony, while a vibrant Indian lunch rounded out the afternoon with flavours of Sindh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

Civil Marriage
The evening unfolded with a delicate floral arch for the civil vows. A champagne reception and sit-down wedding breakfast followed, punctuated with heartfelt speeches, a surprise flash mob, and laughter that carried late into the night.
