Aakanksha and Aditya, The Greenhouse Resort, Pushkar, Rajasthan
This close-knit wedding was like a family holiday for the couple's loved ones.
An intimate wedding can also have a grand vibe, and that’s exactly what Aditya and Aakanksha got when they chose an unusual venue in Pushkar, Rajasthan, which offered luxury tents instead of regular rooms or suites. WeddingSutra Favorite – Plush Affairs captured every moment of their festivities in breathtaking frames that the couple will cherish forever. Here groom Aditya shares some highlights of the celebrations with us.
How They Met
Aditya recalls, “We first met in 2011 while she was pursuing her BDS and I was pursuing my MDS at the same college in Karnataka. We became good friends, but once college ended we carried on with our own lives. Seven years later I ran into Aakanksha in Delhi’s Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, and we decided to catch up over brunch. There was no turning back after that. We knew we wanted to spend our lives together and there was no need for a formal proposal. Our parents were soon brought into the fold, and we made it official!”
Wedding Venue
With their friends and family scattered all over the country, the couple knew they wanted an intimate destination wedding away from the hustle bustle of their daily lives. Aditya shares, “We wanted our guests to truly celebrate these two days with us, and our search brought us to the quaint Greenhouse Resort in Pushkar, a hidden gem just 20 kms away from Ajmer city. Since our gathering consisted of less than 100 people, the luxurious tent villas of the Greenhouse Resort were a unique experience for our guests. The wedding truly felt like a holiday with our entire family.”
Wedding Planning
The team of Shubh Vivah, based out Goa, was entrusted to execute the fresh and lively decor that added to the natural beauty of the venue. Talking about choosing the photographer, Aditya shares, “We hired Plush Affairs, and the team was hard working and passionate about their job and craft. Co-founders Sanyogita and Apoorv are really warm and diligent, and they made sure that our wedding experience when it came to capturing all our special moments was smooth and memorable.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The functions kicked off with a vibrant mehndi with multi-hued floral decor and quirky props that accentuated the beauty of the lush poolside venue and contrasted perfectly with the white vintage seating arrangements. The bride’s cheery fuchsia sharara coordinated perfectly with the groom’s fuchsia pocket square that added a pop of colour to his white kurta and yellow bandi jacket.
Sangeet
The sangeet function was an elegant soiree with warm lighting, candles, and festooned blooms. The groom looked suave in a classic tuxedo, while the bride dazzled in a shimmering red lehenga and diamond jewellery.
Haldi
Aditya shares, “We wanted to make the most of the winter sun in the beautiful November weather, so we held most of our functions outdoors. The haldi function was also organized by the poolside, on the sprawling lawns, and it was a vibrant affair with funky and colorful decor.”
The function was replete merriment as everyone smeared the couple with turmeric paste, but the highlight was definitely the bride’s quirky ensemble. The chic combination of a yellow skirt with a white ‘Bride’ t-shirt and floral jewellery captured her fun and sunny personality.
Pheras
The wedding ceremony was a breezy outdoor affair with pleasing pastel decor. In keeping with the colour palette, the couple wore coordinated outfits in hues of light peach and blush, and exchanged garlands of exotic mauve orchids.
