Aashwi and Anish Washa, Raajsa Resort Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan
A Rajputana wedding, a blingy sangeet and a Turkish mehndi - this couple’s destination wedding in Rajasthan had it all!
Extravagant, regal and planned by the groom himself, Anish Washa, a wedding planner and Aashwi’s wedding in Rajasthan exuded equal doses of desi and modern vibes. Photographing the couple and their families as they celebrated the union with dance, joyful smiles and heartwarming embraces was WeddingSutra Favorite – Movie’ing Moments.
Wedding Planning
Weddings create memories that last a lifetime and to capture their happy moments, the duo handed over the photography reins to Movie’ing Moments. Anish shares, “We’ve been following Movie’ing Moments’ work for a long time. When our wedding was fixed, we knew that it had to be them. There was no scouting or any doubts. Honestly, we couldn’t be happier. They gave us such beautiful pictures that really did capture the spirit of the celebrations.”
Being a wedding planner himself, Anish, at first assumed the planning process would be a smooth one. Hiccups, however, did crop up and were promptly tackled thanks to his planning expertise. Aashwi shares, “The moment we fixed the venue in Kumbalgarh, the marathon began! There were so many tasks to be checked off and decisions to be made. Plus, both of us had different visions for the wedding. While I was keen on an elegant low-key celebration, Anish wanted a grand celebration. Finally, we were able to balance it out with elements that suited both our tastes. Be it the mehndi, haldi or the wedding, everything fell into place one by one. The colour palette varied across ceremonies and everything was planned to the very last minute.”
Weddings Functions
Mehndi
For the mehndi, the couple chose a Turkish mood board where they swathed the venue in hues of blue and silver that complemented the evening sky beautifully. Under a canopy of suspended origami elements in the same colour scheme, everyone had a great time shaking their leg while holding their henna-patterned palms aloft.
Sangeet
For the sunlit sangeet, the couple decided to opt for a tropical and blingy theme punctuated by bright colours along with a breezy canopy under which a stage was constructed. The to-be-weds seating area, especially, was eye catchy with its cane chairs flanked by tropical leaves painted in different hues.
Haldi
Hosted jointly for the bride and groom, the haldi ceremony brimmed with playful moments where everyone had a gala time slathering the couple in turmeric. After a floral shower, the bride and groom were all smiles as they revelled with their loved ones.
Pooja
Wedding
For their big day, the couple chose to go regal with a Rajputana theme. The bride shares, “The highlight of the wedding was the mandap! It looked regal and aesthetic with its silver pillars, floral decor and gave everyone a clear view of the phere. Before entering, I surprised the guests with a speech which was an emotional moment.” Anish adds, “For us, the wedding has been a whirlwind journey as we went through so many options and had to make many different as well as difficult choices. We’d even considered a court marriage and a local wedding. Thankfully, we were able to make our dreams come true despite the challenges.”
After Party
At the after-party, glamour was at an all-time high as Aashwi donned a shimmering gown and Anish, a sleek tuxedo. With a monochromatic entranceway, a vast stage backed by LED panels, white blooms and a canopy of fairy lights, this event lit up Rajasthan’s night sky with its modern grandeur.
