Akanksha and Karan first met at a wedding show in Toronto, Canada, and little did they know back then that they would be tying the knot down the line. Their nuptials held in Mexico was a classy affair that unfolded against the Caribbean coastline. Here are some highlights of the festivities.
How They Met
Akanksha and Karan locked eyes at a wedding show in Toronto and later connected on Instagram when Akanksha tagged him in a post. Soon enough, they both started following each other, and their chemistry deepened when they started chatting online. After almost five weeks of messaging each other back and forth, the duo finally decided to take it a step further when Karan asked Akanksha to help him out with shopping for his upcoming trip. However, as Karan flew off for his trip, distance intervened and both of them didn’t share a word for a month. But, they spoke soon after Karan came back and easily picked up from where they had left off. And before they knew it, they were officially dating.
Proposal
For the official proposal, Karan took the less beaten path and decided to pop the question in an airport hangar. Completely blown away by his effort, Akanksha happily agreed to marry him.
Wedding Venue
Shortly after their Roka ceremony, the duo visited Mexico for a vacation and quickly realized that they wanted to host a destination wedding. Held at the scenic Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, their nuptials gave their guests the opportunity to enjoy beautiful vistas and impeccable hospitality.
Wedding Planning
Knowing that a destination wedding requires dedicated work and expertise, the duo decided to rely on efficient vendors who made sure their every need was looked after. Paving the way were planners iRock Weddings and Hype Travel who were followed by photographers Six Studio, videographer Cineverse, and entertainers Manj Musik, Jazzy B, Deep Jandu, and Jassi Sindhu.
Weddings Functions
Sangeet
Hosted by the waterside, the sangeet was a glamorous affair with decor that included multicolored umbrellas and a wreath created out of vintage bulbs against which the happy couple posed. However, adding an extra dash of color to the event was a dance floor peppered with ethnic motifs that encouraged everyone to shake a leg. Lasting till the wee hours of the morning, the sangeet witnessed everyone partying their hearts out as the DJ spun his tracks.
Wedding
The duo’s big day was a feast for the eyes with its unique mandap that had a peach canopy that contrasted beautifully with the blue sky and sea. Equipped with a transparent floor, the mandap which was built halfway into the water, and gave everyone an illusion of walking on air as they witnessed the gorgeous duo tie the knot. Enjoying the panoramic views of the stunning coastline, the newlyweds celebrated the beginning of a new chapter in their lives with a stunning fireworks display.
Reception
Going high on style and glamor, the reception was deeply influenced by minimalist Western designs that contrasted with the other two functions that preceded it. The venue included a vast dance floor, a champagne tower, and graceful dancers. The newlyweds looked elegant as they enjoyed their first dance together as man and wife. Dressed in a heavy silver lehenga Akanksha channeled her inner princess, while Karan looked dapper in a three-piece tuxedo.
