How they met
Some people are destined to be together, and Akshita and Pranav’s story is a testament to that. Akshita and Pranav met 8 years ago through her boyfriend at the time. While they sparked a connection, they were both in relationships and didn’t pursue anything more than friendship. Months passed by, as did life, and the newly single Akshita shot Pranav a message over Facebook one day to catch up. Bonding over their shared taste in music, their friendship grew over time, and before long Pranav realized he had developed feelings for her, and there was no looking back. The years to come saw their fair share of ups and downs, including long distance when Pranav moved to Dublin to study and work. On one of his trips back, however, he decided to pop the question so they could start the next chapter of their lives together.
The Proposal
Pranav popped the question with a memorable dinner on the first day of their vacation in Goa. Since they both are massive fans of The Office, he planned a proposal identical to the one Michael did for Holly, as the melody of Beatles, their favorite band, played in the background. After a tearful “yes” and celebration, the two decided to get married at the same venue and started planning their beautiful union at Prainha Resort by the Sea.
Wedding Planning
The couple chose the team of Weddings by Fergie to orchestrate their celebrations, while every moment of their love and joy was captured by the team of Dark Cup Productions. Reflecting on their experience, they share “Working with Dark Cup was an incredibly smooth experience. Even though we met them just once before booking them, we knew they were gonna be a part of our lives forever. A bunch of humble souls, they are amazing at their work, and a complete pleasure to be around. We didn’t want any posed moments and wanted to just have a good time with our loved ones, and they completely understood our vibe and vision. We love how the photos turned out and would recommend them to anyone getting married”.
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The festivities began with a morning mehndi soiree that was high on colors, energy, and entertainment. Bright hues of orange and pink livened up the lush greenery of the venue, while Punjabi folk singers filled the air with rousing tunes. The bride and groom wore outfits of sage green for the occasion, and everyone had a gala time getting their hands painted with henna, laughing, dancing, and making merry.
Sangeet
Upping the glamor quotient for the Sangeet, the evening was filled with music and dance under a canopy of fairy lights, swaying palms, and a brilliant starry night. Everyone grooved to the tunes of Bollywood songs while the bride took to the dance floor to the songs of her favorite actor Shah Rukh Khan. The couple looked dazzling in matching ensembles of midnight blue, and the evening saw high-octane festivities that continued into the night.
Haldi
The next morning began with the bride’s choora ceremony, after which the Haldi function followed. Cute and simple, the ritual was performed in front of a minimalistic backdrop of colorful origami with the stunning ocean waters beyond. The bride wore a refreshing combination of red and yellow, while the groom kept it simple with a yellow kurta which ended up being shredded by his gang of friends before taking the party to the waves.
Wedding
The dreamy wedding ceremony was imagined with delicate pastel decor, with the ocean and the beach as a backdrop. The couple wore matching hues of soft peach, which perfectly aligned with the decor and the breezy beachside vibe. Elegant seating of white and gold faced the minimalistic mandap, where the couple tied the knot with a simple ceremony performed by a female priest. Despite being short, the nuptials were still steeped in emotion, love, and meaningful moments.
Reception
The sunset phera ceremony was followed by a lively Reception that saw stellar performances by the band Uzo. Playing classics by the couple’s favorite artists like the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and more, they set an unforgettable ambiance for the evening. The couple shared the first dance on the dance floor under a canopy of fairy lights and enjoyed the bliss of their celebration amidst their loved ones.
Advice for couples
“Please hire a planner. There is so much to be done not just before the wedding but also during, and the time goes by so quickly. Your planners shoulder all the stress and details so you can enjoy every moment. Pranav and I had the best time at our wedding. We danced and laughed freely without any stress. We also didn’t get a stage and pose for stuffy pictures, instead, we were on the dance floor enjoying ourselves with our friends and family, all of which was captured by the team of Dark Cups Productions”.
