Anandiya Das and Vishal Baskaran, Kenilworth Hotel, Kolkata
Hosted in an iconic heritage Kolkata hotel, this Bengali wedding was full of nostalgic charm.
From lifelong friends to partners for life, Anandiya Das and Vishal Baskaran marked their journey of love with a picturesque celebration in the heart of Kolkata. Captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – WhatKnot Photography, these shots weave a story of sweet Bengali traditions and moments of pure joy.
How they met
Childhood friends since grade 1, Anandiya Das and Vishal Baskaran’s story of love is straight out of a romance novel. From friends to becoming best friends and then lovers, their journey was as colorful as life itself as they grew up together, both as individuals and in their relationship.
The Proposal
After officially dating for 6 years, Vishal popped the question with a romantic beach proposal in 2020. Orchestrating a lovely evening with candles, flowers, and seashells spelling out “Will you marry me” on the private beach of Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa, he swept Anandiya off her feet!
Wedding Planning
Seeking wedding inspiration from the Internet and finding most of their vendors and artists through Instagram and wedding planning apps, the bride planned the wedding herself with help from her family. For their cozy, picturesque wedding, they picked the heritage property of Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata, for which the decor was curated by Wow Events.
Their special moments were captured by WhatKnot Photography. The vibrant colors and emotions of their celebrations painted a picture of happiness, every vivid shot a story on its own. The team’s expertise in freezing every little moment in candid clicks was loved by all.
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The festivities kicked off with a lively mehndi soiree. Hosted in the lush beauty of the lawns, the minimal decor added pops of pink and orange to the expanse of green. The bride and groom both wore matching outfits of sky blue, and the occasion was full of love and laughter.
Sangeet
The festivities continued with a charming outdoor Sangeet with a night of music and dance under the stars. Imagined with a sparkling canopy of fairy lights, the soiree saw stellar dance performances by the couple and their loved ones.
Haldi
The next morning began with the joy and energy of the Haldi soiree. Bright marigolds added splashes of yellow and orange to the green backdrop, as did the couple and their loved ones in outfits of yellow. The ceremony was full of funny, memorable moments as the couple was showered with haldi, flowers, and love.
Wedding
The Bengali wedding ceremony was a soulful blend of warm traditions, joyous family moments, and delightful decor. Anandiya was every bit the charismatic Bengali bride in her red saree, while the groom sported the customary cream and gold ‘dhuti-paanjabi’. Plush floral arrangements decked the celebrations as the bride and groom tied the knot surrounded by the love of their friends and family.
