For years, Anjali Shrivastava and Kunal Sah worked behind the scenes, creating memorable weddings for countless couples through WeddingSutra Favorite – Badhai Ho Events. As co-founders, they built the company with a simple vision of celebrating every union with warmth, emotions, traditions, and meaningful memories. This time, however, the celebration was their own.
How They Met
Not every love story begins with grand gestures. Some quietly grow over years of familiarity, friendship, and shared memories. Anjali and Kunal first met in primary school. From sharing lunch breaks and sitting together in class to playing games, teasing each other, and growing up side by side, they naturally became a part of each other’s everyday lives. Over time, life took them in different directions as they pursued individual ambitions and built their own identities.
Wedding Planning
Planning weddings for others had always been second nature to the duo behind Badhai Ho Events, but planning their own wedding brought a completely different experience. For Anjali and Kunal, the focus was not just on execution or aesthetics, but on creating a celebration that genuinely reflected their journey together.
One of the most meaningful details was their wedding logo, which featured an umbrella symbolising togetherness, companionship, and standing beside each other through every season of life. Finalising the design involved several discussions, creative differences, and multiple revisions before it finally felt true to both of them. The logo was then thoughtfully incorporated into the celebrations through customised table coasters and other subtle decor elements across the venue. The written details and mantras used throughout the wedding were also carefully curated around the idea of beginning a new journey together.
Wedding Functions
Haldi
For the Haldi ceremony, Anjali created a setup inspired by the nostalgia of childhood and old Indian courtyards. The decor felt warm, playful, and rooted in memories they had shared while growing up together. The space featured pickle jars, traditional spices, handwritten childhood notes, and indoor games like Ludo and Chess that instantly brought a sense of familiarity to the celebration. Every detail added to the intimate and personal atmosphere of the function.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the ‘Bachpan Ki Yaadein’ corner, a nostalgic candy stall filled with childhood favourites like imli candy, mint cigarettes, and treats both families fondly remembered from their younger days.
Sangeet
One of the most personal details from the wedding was thoughtfully woven into the Sangeet seating arrangement. Each table number frame was decorated with an original dried rose, a detail that carried a deeply sentimental story. Back in school, Kunal would often bring a rose from his home garden for Anjali, a simple gesture to make her smile and quietly impress her. Years later, that childhood memory found its way into their wedding celebrations. What was a delicate decor detail to guests was, for the couple, a reminder of years of friendship, affection, and growing up together.
Wedding
The wedding ceremony blended elegance with emotion. Their aisle was designed as a pathway of memories and blessings, lined with fresh flowers and elegant elephant motifs that added a regal touch to the setting. One of the most memorable moments from the celebration was Anjali’s bridal entry. Instead of choosing a trending soundtrack, the couple chose ‘Samarpan ki Bela’ from Vivah, a song deeply connected to their childhood memories.
