Arundhati and Sameer, Sula Vineyards, Nasik
Lush vineyards, nature-inspired decor and traditional Marathi rituals made Arundhati and Sameer's outdoor wedding in Nashik a charming affair.
Being doctors, it was easy for Arundhati and Sameer to cure their withdrawal symptoms when they were away from each other – they simply prescribed a wedding to each other! WeddingsSutra Favorite WhatKnot captured all the fun and love of their nuptials at Sula Vineyards, Nashik and bride Arundhati shares some highlights below.
How We Met
“Sameer and I met when we were pursuing our post-graduation studies. Both of us are doctors and were specializing in respiratory medicine and surgery respectively. While we knew each other as colleagues, it was Sameer who took the first step and asked me out. Between our busy schedules, our relationship blossomed and eventually he proposed to me. I said ‘Yes’ and so began the lead-up to our big day.”
Wedding Venue
“We were looking to host our wedding in an open-air setting and were particularly impressed by the amphitheater at Nashik’s Sula Vineyards. Since ours was a morning ceremony, we thought it would be the perfect location for us to exchange our vows at, as well as easily accommodate our 250 guests.”
Wedding Planning
“Once the wedding is over, photographs are the only way through which a couple can relive the special day, so we were very sure that we wanted only the best to click our pictures. We chose WhatKnot as our wedding photographers, and the team did a wonderful job at freezing our nuptials in frames that convey our story beautifully. The wedding decor was taken care of by Nashik-based 5 Star Decor, and the wedding invitations were designed by Aakruti Cards & Envelopes. Pooja Thanawala of Dance Mania was the who got everyone to shake their leg at our sangeet by choreographing performances to catchy numbers, and Minee Khanna of Makeup by Minee had me looking my prettiest at all the various functions.”
Wedding Functions
Sangeet
“For our sangeet, we wanted a very simple setup. We played around with drapes and lights to create a romantic atmosphere. The drapes in colors of red and gold alongside yellow lights setup added a touch of magic to everything. For this function, I wore a pink lehenga from Benzer while Sameer opted for an outfit from Van Heusen.”
Wedding
“We took inspiration from nature for our wedding decor and made use of a lot of flowers. In fact, our wedding stage had large tree-like structures covered in yellow and orange marigold blooms. A lot of drapes were incorporated in the decor too. One of the unique features was the entry pathway that was lined with Sameer and my old photographs. Since we had a Maharashtrian ceremony, I was required to change outfits, so I wore a yellow saree from Nalli as well as a red one from Only Paithani. Sameer wore a sherwani from Raymond.”
Advice For Couples
“We were super busy with our work which made it very difficult for us to be available at all times during the planning process. Therefore we left it to our families to take care of the planning and tried to be as involved as possible through video chats. Our advice for any busy bride and groom would be to plan the shopping dates well in advance so that they can have trials done early – especially for the lehengas and sherwanis. Concerning the planning, you can trust your family!’
