Avni and Roshan, The Mansion House, Alibaug
Brimming with spontaneous moments of fun, this couple's seaside wedding near Mumbai was a vivid celebration of love!
In a vivid and close-knit celebration punctuated by lots of greenery, Avni and Roshan celebrated their bond with a series of beautiful celebrations that exuded warmth. Photographing the couple as they started a new chapter in their lives was WeddingSutra Favorite – WhatKnot.
How They Met
Avni shares, “Roshan and I met on a dating app. We both immediately swiped right on each other. Our first conversation was about the show ‘Friends’ and from there we talked about everything else. We had our first date at a local brewery and spent hours talking and laughing. Both of us felt an instant connection to each other and we knew we had to keep seeing each other. The rest is history!”
Wedding Planning
As they started planning the wedding, the couple was keen on a cozy wedding where they could revel freely. Avni shares, “Roshan and I always wanted a small, intimate wedding with only our closest friends and family. So when we started planning, we focused on locations that felt intimate. We wanted it to feel as though we were all on a huge family vacation to let both sides of the families unite with each other.”
For their photographers, they chose WhatKnot who impressed the couple with their dedication and expertise. The couple shares, “We loved working with Whatknot! They were professional, punctual, friendly, and very experienced. All the photos we got were absolutely wonderful. We have so many that are our favourites. Not only was the team during the wedding so great to work with, but the team editing our photos and videos was also forthcoming. They were easy to get in touch with and listened to what we wanted. They had a lot of patience with us and always took the time to meet our demands, no matter how small. We’re so happy we chose them and would recommend them to anyone planning their wedding!”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
Avni shares, “Our mehendi was on the rooftop of the venue. Roshan and I wanted it to be a warm and welcoming first event. We chose pastel shades of soft pinks and oranges along with greens, gold, and whites with lots of floral arrangements and overhead draping to create a fun and light atmosphere.”
Haldi
The couple shares, “The haldi celebration was held indoors. This was a prior design by the decor team that we instantly loved. It held all the bright and traditional colors of a haldi. The backdrop was an arch of orange and yellow flowers with tassels running down in the same colors. It was the event we focused on the least, but it turned out to be one of the most vibrant!”
Pool Party
Avni shares, “Roshan and I love the pool, so we wanted to include that as a fun afternoon event for our family and friends. We decided on a neutral boho theme with lots of poolside fun – table tennis, Jenga, pool floaties, monogrammed coconuts, a live band, and a popcorn station.”
Sangeet
Avni shares, “The theme here was tropical disco! Since the venue gave us a tropical feel with its many palm trees, we wanted to incorporate that into our sangeet. We decided on lots of greens and hanging disco balls from the ceiling with a mirror dance floor. Safe to say, it gave us an amazing party vibe.”
Wedding
Avni shares, “We wanted our wedding outdoors, especially in the backdrop of the venue’s amazing scenery. Our varmala was on a floating mirror platform on the pool before we went to the mandap that was also poolside. We chose pink and white for our mandap colour scheme.”
Reception
Last in line was the dreamy reception as Avni shares, “The outdoor reception had tables on the lawn with overhead string lights giving everything a dreamy feel and a perfect way to end the festivities. Overall, all the events went off without a hitch! The decor, food, drinks, and music rounded it all out.”
