From their fun-filled cocktail function to the elegant mehndi, Ayushi and Dhawal made sure everyone had fun at their wedding. Here, Ayushi shares some interesting moments of her nuptials.
How We Met
“Dhawal and I first met when we were 13 and 12 years old. We were best friends for years, and he asked me out about six years ago. Our relationship felt like getting linked together in a permanent state of happy childhood with one’s best friend.”
Wedding Proposal
“I’ve always wanted to get engaged in Paris so he created a Parisian cafe ambience for me with fairy lights and a ton of French accessories. He called my father for his permission and then went down on his knee to propose. I obviously said ‘Yes!’ immediately to his wonderful proposal.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
“We had beautiful decor for the mehndi event which was held at Tote on the Turf in Mahalaxmi. Guests enjoyed the ambiance at this event and we also had a 15-minute dance performance. Only intimate friends and families were performing and hosting during this function. While I wore a Dolly J creation, Dhawal wore an outfit by Krishna Mehta. The mood was light and joyful, and the dance performances provided great entertainment.”
Cocktail
“We had a cocktail party at a rooftop bar lounge named AER at Four Seasons Hotel which proved to be a fun-filled evening for the youngsters in the family. The upbeat songs and the unlimited cocktails kept us all grooving. To match all the enthusiasm, I wore a stunning black cocktail gown by Sharnita Nandwana that kept me looking groovy through the night!”
Wedding and Reception
“Our wedding ceremony had a very traditional theme which incorporated red and white hues and lots of flowers. JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar is a gorgeous venue, and we wanted to maintain the traditional royal look with our choice of decor. We had a very traditional Marwari wedding according to our rituals and customs. The celebration was a ‘meet and greet’ event as none of us were keen on a standing reception. I wore a gorgeous red lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, and SVA for the reception, while Dhawal looked dapper in an outfit by SVA.”
Advice for Couples
“My only advice for couples is that they should communicate with each other constantly and to try and enjoy their wedding because those special moments will never come back.”
