Rahul and Bani’s Jalandhar wedding was a grand extravaganza that had their guests dancing and cheering! However, what the couple’s loved ones really looked forward to was receiving the stunning digital album of the festivities created by WeddingSutra Favorite – Sunny Dhiman Photography. Bride Bani shares with us the highlights of the celebrations.
How We Met
“Rahul and I were introduced to each other by our families, and although we met a couple of times before we said yes to each other, we knew almost immediately that this was it. We became great friends, and our meetings were filled with fun and laughter. Rahul’s understanding nature and his unconditional support was exactly what I was looking for in my life partner.
Wedding Planning
“Our wedding was planned by both our families. Each member was very excited and contributed a lot in every aspect possible. Sunny Dhiman Photography was the team that took care of capturing our big day and were very generous and gracious throughout. We had seen their work before since they had covered a few of my friends’ weddings too. However, when we saw the pictures that they had clicked at our wedding, we fell in love with their work all over again! Prerna Khullar was my make-up artist for the sangeet and the mehndi whereas Kohl Eyes By Jo dolled me up for the big day. Shunya Band performed for us on the evening of our sangeet, and Dj 100rb filled the night with his catchy beats which our guests loved.”

Mehndi
“The wedding celebrations were carried forward on a bright note with the vibrant mehndi! The decor was bursting with colors and included decor features like marigolds, bright dreamcatchers, and vibrant drapes. There was a cheery looking wheel of flowers behind the bridal seating elevating the liveliness. We had a very informal outdoor setting that brought in the diverse cultural elements while ensuring that people could talk, dance and drink. Furthermore, the dhol players and folk singers had everyone dancing in high spirits! As for the attire, I wore an elegant yellow lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, and Rahul looked debonair in a navy blue bandhgala suit.”
Sangeet
“The night of our sangeet and engagement marked the beginning of the wedding celebrations and what left all our guests awestruck was my entry to ‘Heer’ by Nucleya under a floral canopy that was held aloft by my brothers. The spectacular spaces were decked with elegant drapes of ivory and wine and what was most heart-warming was that Rahul spent the entire day at the venue to ensure that the execution matched my vision. All of us are very fond of dancing, and the night saw performances by all my family members and cousins. Rahul and I danced on a romantic number and received loud cheers from the audience! The highlight, however, was watching my parents perform, which was the best moment of our wedding for me. I wore an Anamika Khanna lehenga and Rahul opted for a customized Raymond suit. The team at Anamika Khanna in New Delhi was very kind to fulfill our special request and craft pocket squares which matched my outfit for all the men of the family.”
Wedding
“Adorned with warm lights, floral bouquets, and peach drapes, the venue for the wedding looked like a sight from a fairytale. We had a traditional Sikh ceremony for which I wore a beautiful creation by Tarun Tahiliani which had a sheer dupatta. Rahul donned a cream and gold sherwani. For the doli, I changed into a dazzling traditional red outfit by Anita Dongre which I paired with very subtle makeup.”
Advice For Couples
“Spend time with the vendors so that it becomes easy for them to understand your taste and give you options accordingly. Once you have done that, then sit back and trust their skills. It is very important to let go and let things take their course, at least a week before the wedding. Know that everything will be okay and don’t stress over the little things. There is a lot of fun in being unique and different in your way!”
