Bharat and Kiran picked beautiful venues for their charming wedding, planned and executed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Eventures Asia and captured by other WeddingSutra Favorite DotDusk Studios. Read more details below.
How we met
“We first met 10 years ago at a wedding. What followed was that every two years, we’d meet at another wedding and each time I would end up saying something cheeky and Kiran would shy away. This happened four times over 10 years! Nearly three years ago, I messaged her on her birthday to strike up a conversation; she was visiting India for a friends wedding and I was also attending a friend’s wedding at that time. I left the reception to meet Kiran for a 45-minute coffee break. We enjoyed each other’s company and started chatting. A month and a half later, I went to Hong Kong to visit her and 13 trips (to Hong Kong) later, I proposed to her after asking for her parents’ permission.”
The Proposal
“Kiran’s best friend told her there was a dinner at a pop-up restaurant/gallery. I had already booked the entire gallery, put up framed canvasses of her and me all over and inside, there were storyboards – caricatures of the moments we didn’t have in pictures. Amongst candles, there was an unfinished puzzle of us holding hands, she reached to complete it and found the ring there.”
Wedding Venue
“We had our welcome dinner at Zuma, Hong Kong – a Japanese restaurant and bar which was perfect for our guests. The Sagri took place at the Intercontinental, Hong Kong and we hosted our sangeet at the Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong. The Ritz Carlton has a stunning ballroom and we couldn’t imagine a better venue to host this party. The Intercontinental was perfect for the pheras and reception. It has the most beautiful lobby with the best view of the Hong Kong skyline and harbor and its ballroom can host up to 700 guests.”
Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
“The Welcome Dinner had a metallic theme; bespoke decor, bartenders with metallic headbands, metallic hats, and props. It was the perfect occasion for our families to come together and get to know each other.”
Sagri
“The traditional sagri ritual was followed by a vibrant afternoon lunch where the guests enjoyed the Hong Kong harbor view across the entire room. This was an intimate function with our close family and friends in attendance.”
Sangeet
“The sangeet was planned around a ‘Sheesh Mahal’ concept. The decor included beautiful mirror effects and LED visuals. Our ambiance visual was a palace for the sangeet which we alternated with a logo visual through the event. The highlight of this evening was definitely the performance by Badshah who created energy that had the entire crowd on the dance floor! The family performances relied heavily on customized visuals to complement the songs and the overall performance. While Badshah set the vibe for this evening, his performance was followed by DJ Manoj who played the best music for the guests till 6 am.”
Pheras and Reception
“We always envisioned our decor on this day to be fresh and dreamy. We decided to use lots of fresh flowers in a soft pastel palette. Full-blown white roses with a touch of gold added an elegant touch to the dreamy decor. Roses represent a promise, hope, new beginnings and gold symbolize success, so this explains the symbolism of the golden roses throughout the wedding and most prominently in our reception decor. From LED screens to the walls and dance floor, everything was perfectly planned and executed.”
Advice for Couples
“Eventures Planners from Bali are great even outside the country! Remember to make a list of family names to be called out for photos at each event. Do not stress since, after all, it is only a big party!”
