Dhvani and Vishesh, Mumbai
Facing the foamy waves of the Arabian Sea, this couple’s transparent pillared mandap adorned with snow-white blooms was a surreal sight to behold.
Dhvani and Vishesh, both ambitious individuals, first met through a common friend and instantly discovered a shared love for adventure between them. After emerging unscathed through every obstacle that life threw at them, these two ardent Mumbaikars tied the knot in a breathtaking ceremony by the Arabian Sea at Taj Lands End which was captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – KnotsbyAMP in well-composed frames that expressed myriad emotions.
How They Met
Dhvani shares, “We met through a common friend in 2018 and bonded over our shared passion for adventure. As time flew by, we supported each other through various challenges that we faced at work and in life. Not only did this bring us closer, but it also made us realize that we shared a common value process that transformed our friendship into love.”
Wedding Venue
“We were quite clear from the start that we wanted an open-air venue with a natural backdrop that reflected the essence of Mumbai, the city that we both grew up in. The Infinity Lawn at the Taj Lands End, Mumbai fit the bill perfectly and made our vision come true magnificently. The pale blue Arabian Sea and the colossal Bandra Worli Sea Link made the perfect backdrop for our sunset wedding. Honestly, getting a wedding organized here was a logistical challenge as ours was the first wedding to be held here. But, when I made my way down after getting ready on the big day, I realized that I couldn’t have asked for a better location in Mumbai to get married in.”, recollects Dhvani
Wedding Planning
Shouldering the responsibility of planning the wedding by themselves with some help from immediate family members, the couple had a lot on their plate on the days leading up to the big day. Dhvani shares, “Right from the venue selection, decor shortlisting, finalizing themes, food tasting to execution, everything was handled by us and our families.
On the photography front, we chose KnotsbyAMP, who, from the very beginning impressed us with their professionalism and straightforward approach. Their candids and stills are extremely expressive and take us back in time whenever we look at them. After working with them, I would easily recommend them to all other couples and would happily work with them again in the future.”
Adding to their team were decorators Fleuron and makeup artists Meghna Butani who used their skills to make the duo’s vision come true.
Weddings Functions
Wedding
“Our goal was to keep the theme simple and minimal. For the wedding ceremony, we chose to keep the guest list limited with our close friends and family in attendance. A traditional Gujarati ceremony, our main aim with the wedding was to display the natural beauty of Mumbai with the Arabian Sea, the endless horizon, and the majestic sea link. Everything, from our mandap to our seating arrangement revolved around the same. Held up by transparent pillars, adorned by pristine white blooms and surrounded by delicate acrylic chairs, everyone got a magnificent view of Mumbai’s natural beauty.”, shares Dhvani
Reception
“While our wedding was an intimate function, the reception party that followed had a more substantial guest list. With a white and gold color palette, our reception started off with a couple’s first dance, followed by a few other performances. Staying true to our minimalist and simple theme we eschewed the idea of a stage and instead, had a riser which acted as a meet and greet point and then doubled up as a dancefloor once the formalities were done. Also, food was an extremely important aspect of all our functions, and we had multiple food tastings with Taj to ensure that our guests got the best of the best.”, shares Dhvani.
Advice For Couples
“Ensure all the vendors understand your vision and are comfortable to work with. Your wedding should express both your personalities, so you should do what makes your heart happy.”, advises the bride.
