Dhwani and Aadit, Vadodara, Gujarat
This wedding saw US-based Dhwani and Aadit balance cozy ceremonies at home with grand functions.
From a surprise proposal in the Hamptons, US, to a traditional wedding in Gujarat, Dhwani and Aadit’s nuptials were planned to perfection by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Weddings Designers. Take a look at some highlights of the celebrations here.
How they met
Born and brought up in Vadodara, Gujarat, Dhwani and Aadit were aware of each other as their families were acquainted with each other. The duo spent years admiring each other from afar before crossing paths at a mutual friend’s party. Despite dating other people at the time, their meeting sparked an undeniable connection between them. Overtime, hanging out with their friends led them to develop deeper feelings for each other and take the next step in their relationship.
The Proposal
Aadit shares, “I put in a lot of thought into planning the proposal, and many things came together to make it happen, including the ring sent by my mom from India. I booked an Airbnb in the Hamptons and took Dhwani on a weekend trip there on the pretext of staying at a friend’s vacation home. I proposed to her at sunset by a fireplace wearing my favorite sneakers that she had gifted me. Seeing me go down on one knee, she laughed and asked, “Are you proposing? You don’t have a ring!” In the best comeback ever, I pulled out the ring, leaving her awestruck. Looking into her eyes as the reality of the moment sunk in, and hearing her reply ‘Yes’ was the most beautiful feeling ever!”
Wedding Venue
All the pre-wedding festivities were held at the couple’s homes in Vadodara, and the main wedding ceremony was a lavish affair hosted at the sprawling Aarana Lawns.
Wedding Planning
The couple entrusted the planning and execution of their nuptials to The Wedding Designers. They share, “Our experience was amazing as The Wedding Designers team took our ideas into consideration, and made it their goal to portray our story and our personalities at every function. Also, considering we were in the US during most of the planning process while they were in India, they carried out all their tasks to perfection.”
The beautiful moments were captured by Pooja Joseph Photography, while Gayu Shah gave the bride gorgeous looks for each event.
Wedding Functions
Pithi
The festivities kicked off with a traditional Pithi function that included lively rituals, vibrant decor and merry moments. Strings of marigold blooms added a vibrant vibe to the ambiance. Dhwani wore a green saree designed by her mother-in-law for this event, which she teamed with floral jewellery from IVY.
Mehndi
Dhwani shares, “Since Aadit and I are nature lovers, we envisioned lush decor for this event with foliage canopies and walls alongside floral arrangements for a secret garden feel. Also, since I love dogs, the seating arrangements for the mehndi were lined with dog print pillows.” The verdant canopies glimmered with interspersing disco balls over a vibrant stage, a floral swing set and a colorful fountain decked with blooms. Dhwani exuded elegance in her lavender lehenga, while Aadit looked festive in his peach silk sherwani by Anita Dongre.
Sangeet
The mehndi festivities were followed by the sangeet, where the couple and their loved ones danced the night away. Dhwani was resplendent in a boho-chic silver gown from EASE that featured embroidered floral motifs, while Aadit wore a bandi jacket and kurta set by Anita Dongre.
Wedding
The outdoor wedding was a serene and traditional affair. Beautiful floral arrangements and bells comprised the decor elements which were inspired by Indian temples. The bride walked down an aisle dotted with petals and decorated with hand-painted motifs. She looked like a princess in her red Anita Dongre lehenga, while the groom matched her vibe in his beige and mint sherwani with striking accessories and a floral print turban.
Reception
The festivities wound up with a minimalist reception. The venue was had a soft, romantic vibe with roses, glowing lights and bells. The bride teamed her Sabyasachi Mukherjee saree with her late grandmother’s diamond jewellery as a tribute to her for the special occasion. The groom looked dapper in a Raymond suit.

“From our experience, we learnt the importance of planning ahead to ensure you don’t miss out or compromise on anything,” adds Dhwani.
