In sync with tradition yet paving the way ahead for glamour, this couple’s hill-station destination wedding was a stunning celebration.
Nestled in the mountains, Diksha Dudhani and Utkarsh Jhanwar’s wedding was a vivid celebration. Photographing the couple at their stylish best as they took the plunge into marital bliss was WeddingSutra Favorite – Knotty Affair by Namit and Vipul.
How They Met
Utkarsh shares, “We met through our families. At a mutual relative’s wedding, a few of the elders of my family saw Diksha and were completely awestruck. A few weeks later, my parents asked me to meet Diksha. So we planned it all and went to Kolkata to meet Diksha and her family. From then on, there was no looking back as Diksha and I instantly bonded!”
The Proposal
Utkarsh shares, “The proposal happened after the engagement. Though it was a so-called arranged marriage, we found we were in love! obsessed with each other in no time. I planned a surprise birthday or a proposal. I remember Diksha once telling me about the ‘Paris proposal’ and how it’s been a dream for many girls out there. So knowing her immense love for Kolkata, the famous Howrah bridge and the Ganges, I booked a cruise ship which happens to be quite a famous venue for events in Kolkata.” Diksha adds, “What was supposed to be a romantic dinner date ended up being a larger-than-life surprise proposal.”
Wedding Planning
On the photography front, it was Knotty Affair by Namit and Vipul that the couple chose to capture their precious moments. The couple shares, “In spite of taking up meetings with many many wedding photographers, Knotty Affair by Namit and Vipul stood out. Their flexibility and understanding made everything so much easier. Plus, they pitched us their ideas and took ours into consideration too. They were as invested as we were for our wedding which made us more enthusiastic.”
Wedding Functions
Bhajan Sandhya
Hosted by the bride’s side, the bhajan sandhya was an auspicious occasion where the bride and her family prayed for a smooth and happy wedding. The decor for this event was kept simple as everyone after the bhajan, grooved on the dancefloor and had a cheerful time.
Cocktail and After Party
In the evening, it was time to amp up the glamour and romance quotient with a grand cocktail party. Taking the stage by storm the couple performed a dance number that left everyone awestruck while LED lights lit up the venue and the red-hued decor.
Mehndi
Breezy and laid-back, the mehndi was swathed in hues of yellow and pink. After the prayers and the rituals were done, Utkarsh and his squad had a merry time on the dancefloor.
Sangeet and After Party
Putting their most glamorous foot forward, the sangeet with its starry stage, LED lights and fairy lights was nothing less than a dream come true. A tunnel crafted out of silver fairy lights welcomed the guests while the couple’s entry was a stunner with cold pyros. Later, at the after-party, everyone had a gala time on the dance floor.
Carnival
Utkarsh shares, “We had a fun flashmob entry where we were accompanied by dancers wearing Samba feather costumes. Sunshine, bright hues and a lot of fun – pool party checked off all the prerequisites of a perfect carnival in a lawn overlooking the mountains.”
Haldi
Utkarsh shares, “The Haldi was a simple affair attended by close friends and family but it had many Insta-worthy décor elements like Portuguese Azulejos backdrop in hues of blue and white, ceramic pots, teepee tents with cute cushions and jute decor.”
Wedding
For the February wedding, a colour scheme of red and white was chosen to stand out against the starry sky. The mandap was encrusted by mirror work while the couple were flanked by a white floral backdrop. Red upholstered chairs and brass vases added to the beauty of the decor.
