Dilreet and Anish, Jaipur
With Punjabi & Gujarati rituals, this wedding was a beautiful blend of two cultures.
A delectable blend of cultures, customs and colors, Dilreet and Anish’s dreamy destination wedding in Jaipur was a hearty celebration of love and commitment. Their magical moments were immortalized by WeddingSutra Favorite – Vows and Tales, a few glimpses of which are shared below.
How They Met
Dilreet shares, “Anish and I met through mutual friends on a summer night right before I graduated from my university in the US. Considering we were both shortly leaving from that place, it felt like a moment of pure destiny. We reconnected a few months down the line, and our frequent conversations soon turned into a relationship. Coming from completely different cultures and families, we were absolute opposites in everything. But as they say, opposites attract, and together we created the perfect balance and are always on the same page about every important thing.”
The Proposal
“Anish proposed to me on a family vacation in Rivera Maya, Mexico. He brought my family there to witness it without my knowledge. And even though what was supposed to be a beach proposal had to be shifted indoors due to unexpected rainstorms, it was the most perfect proposal I could have hoped for!”
Wedding Venues
The festivities were split across the Le Meridien Jaipur Resort & Spa and the Heritage Retreat. The Sikh nuptials were hosted at a farmhouse close to the hotel and were followed by a picturesque Gujarati ceremony on the waterfront of Heritage Retreat.
Wedding Planning
The wedding was planned and executed to perfection by the bride’s own wedding planning company, Ardour Events. Every magical moment was immortalized by Vows and Tales. Blending into the festivities, they captured the hidden emotions and joy of the day the couple and their family experienced. Impeccable makeup by Flawless by Zareen gave the bride a glowing visage. The dances were choreographer by Prem Dance Studio, Atlanta, while Kay V Singh, the groom’s favorite singer was flown in from the US as a surprise artist.
Wedding Functions
Maiyan & Vidhi
The festivities kicked off with a traditional Maiyan event for the bride, and a Vidhi ceremony for the groom, hosted at the expansive lawns of Le Meridien. With bright citrus hued decor, the function was a heady mix of sunshine and merriment as the couple was smeared with turmeric paste. The bride looked chic in a white ‘Bride’ T-shirt, mustard flowing skirt and sunglasses, while the groom sported a mustard and white Bandi jacket and kurta set.
Mehndi
The mehndi function was also held at Le Meridien and followed a yellow and white decor palette. For this, the bride wore a lemon top embroidered with vibrant motifs with a flowing high-low sky blue skirt which she paired with a statement pearl and meenakari earrings. The groom matched her perfectly in his sky blue kurta.
Sangeet
The sangeet night saw energetic dance performances by the couple and their loved ones, rocking music, and a whole lot of fun. The bride opted for a vibrant fuchsia and mustard silk sharara set with bandhani work which she teamed with Polki jewellery, a glowing visage and soft wavy hair. The groom teamed his beige silk kurta-pajama with a pink Bandi jacket.
Welcome Brunch
The colorful welcome brunch hosted at the Heritage Resort saw decor elements such as vibrant drapes, quirky props and open verdant surroundings which lent a laidback and cheery vibe to the event. Everyone got a chance to mingle and relax. The groom’s lemon and ivory attire complemented the bride’s blush and lemon lehenga perfectly at this event.
Baraat Reception & Ring Exchange
The lively day function was followed by a spectacular baraat and ring ceremony. Resplendent in a royal blue sherwani, turban, a feathered kalgi and multi-layered pearl necklace, the groom rode in with his impressive baraat. The couple went ahead and exchanged rings in the presence of their guests. Dilreet exuded a vintage vibe in her golden outfit for this function.
Sikh Ceremony
Dressed in perfectly coordinated peach and cream ensembles, the couple tied the knot in two ceremonies. The Sikh nuptials were held in a nearby farmhouse, followed by the Gujarati ceremony which was hosted by the water, under a white mandap alongside the majestic dome architecture of Heritage Resort.
Reception
The festivities concluded with a stylish reception hosted outdoors at the Heritage Retreat. Elegant floral arrangements, a pristine white cake and the fabulous stage set a classy ambiance bathed in the warm glow of the lights. The bride looked ravishing in a fiery red gown with sleek pulled back hair, while the groom exuded charisma in a black tuxedo.
Advice for Couples
“Wedding planning is a very personal journey, and different for every individual. We always get tied up in pleasing others when we should enjoy the entire process. It is important to not lose one’s own style and preferences in the process. And of course, leave behind any stress to enjoy the day to the fullest.”
