All the thrills and chills of a destination wedding, with none of the long-distance juggles – Disha and Yash’s ‘staycation wedding’ was as exciting and exquisite as an exotic celebration.
Wedding Planner Disha and ‘Mr Pearl’, Yash really wanted a destination wedding but things refused to fall into place. So the couple chose the next best option – a staycation celebration at the Taj Lands End, Mumbai! It was the best decision ever.

How They Met
They could very easily have been star crossed lovers given how fate put them into each other’s paths and they… missed.
The bride tells us about a couple of incidents, “We were in the same college in Mumbai but because we were in different faculties, we never met. Then when we finished studying here, I was going to the University of Sheffield while Yash chose Aston University. As luck would have it – we both decided at the last moment to switch to the University of Warwick. We hadn’t met yet… but this was how it was supposed to be.”
Yash and Disha were introduced by a common friend as they were figuring out accommodation off-campus. Disha says, “While I had figured my stay out, Yash was struggling with his. I was brought into the picture to help him out and that was the beginning of our very many conversations. Yash came to Warwick one day before his birthday, which we brought in together, and that’s when we started dating. Baby steps from mere strangers to life partners, destiny had planned it all.”
Wedding Venue
“We wanted a venue that would cater to all our ceremonies and the Taj Lands End, offered not only a varied option of lawns and banquets but also, was a convenient choice for those traveling locally. Then, Yash and I decided to let everyone get the ‘destination wedding vibe’ by accommodating almost all our guests at the same venue!”
Wedding Functions
A wedding planner herself, Disha’s extensive experience with wedding décor was customized by Daver Decorators who executed this spectacular wedding. The bride didn’t want to be limited by themes and kept her palette experimental and open to ideas and inspirations.
Mehndi
Set up in the Garden View Room at the hotel, the décor at the mehndi was typically kitschy – bandhini and lehriya elements with spools of thread amplified the vivid interiors. A gorgeous swing festooned with an assortment of flowers was placed to set a contrast. The bride wore a stunning lemon green lehenga teamed with floral jewellery that brought spring indoors.
Haldi
Disha made for a fun and quirky bride during her haldi ceremony as you can see in her candid captures by Say Cheeze Photography.
Sangeet
Fairy lights illuminated the entrance and made for a picturesque spot at the venue. LED lights and sparse floral arrangements formed the basis of the décor within the ballroom at Taj Lands End. The Mirror Bar featured quality service by Flaming Trio bartenders and became a hub that evening as an energetic performance by the Vyas Brothers kept the guests on their feet.
Disha wore a silver embellished white lehenga with a feathered hem while Yash wore a white angrakha with a modish twist.
Wedding
As the sun set, tints of orange lit up the mandap with the sea in the background. The pop of coral amid the pastels placed around the poolside lawn at the Taj Lands End made the venue just perfect for a ceremony this beautiful.
Disha looked stunning in a tangerine-hued lehenga teamed with Jadau and pearl jewellery and well-defined eyes that enhanced her look. Yash complemented Disha’s wardrobe by choosing a light grey sherwani teamed with kundan jewellery.
Reception
To celebrate the wedding ceremony, the seaside lawn at the Taj Lands End was decked in pink and white flowers dangling from the ceiling, underneath which mirrored tables and ghost chivari chairs reflected the beauty of the floral sky above. White and green flower table stands added to the al fresco feels.
