Emily Bina and Suraj Patel’s whirlwind romance began at a social club in Brooklyn where they started a conversation on politics and became swift friends. The Congressman candidate and American Journalist left no stone unturned as they first wed in America while planning a grand Indian wedding in the Pink City of Jaipur. Planning their Indian wedding was WeddingSutra Favorite – Weddings by Event Crafter who seamlessly gave life to their vision.

Despite living in the vibrant heart of New York City, their hearts belonged to the rich cultural tapestry of Jaipur. This is where they envisioned their happily ever after, and we were thrilled to help bring that vision to life. Suraj and Emiley’s busy schedules demanded a virtual planning experience. This, however, didn’t hinder the creative process. They were completely captivated by the concepts and designs we presented, and together, we crafted a wedding that was a true reflection of their love story.

Wedding Functions
Welcome Party
After a quick respite from their rigorous travel, the international guests got a true flavor of Rajasthani hospitality with the welcome party. Rich hues, ethnic patterns, soothing music and a delicious spread paved the way for endless conversations at the sundowner party.

Haldi
Set against the venue’s earthy architectural backdrop, the yellow hues of the haldi ceremony looked striking. Yellow blooms, sanganeri-printed bolsters and parasols along with gold vases brimming with blooms were included in the decor.

Sufi Night
After the sunkissed haldi, the couple hosted a glam sufi night where everyone let their hair down! Persian-inspired decor featuring lanterns, latticework backdrops and rugs gave the venue a mystic ambience. Plus, a live performer kept everyone on their feet dancing the night away.

Sangeet
A colorful printed dancefloor and flashing lights set everyone in the mood to shake their leg at the sangeet. In true Gujarati style, everyone also performed garba and dandiya! Fun games ensured everyone was well-engaged while energetic Bollywood music even had the American guests cooking up a storm on the dance floor.

Wedding and After Party
For the big day, the couple decided to mix things up with traditional and modern decor elements. The circular mandap was adorned with roses, creating a romantic ambiance, while a large suspended disco ball added much glamour to the rituals. Fittingly, the sparkling disco ball symbolized the groom’s name, Suraj, meaning ‘sun’. As the light danced across the ball, it reflected all over the venue, bathing the space in a warm, radiant glow, much like the sun itself.
A chrome aisle lined with blooms ensured the bride made a resounding entry. After the pheras, the couple also hosted a formal sit-down dinner where heartfelt speeches, impromptu jigs on the dance floor and playful banter flowed freely.
