Gunjan and Vaibhav, Mumbai
From a melodious Sufi Night to rocking performances by professional dancers, this wedding was high on the entertainment factor.
After hosting a lavish sangeet at ITC Maratha, Gunjan and Vaibhav tied the knot in Mumbai in a simple yet memorable wedding that was high on the fun factor. WeddingSutra Favorite – Arika Event, managed by the groom Vaibhav’s team, planned the events flawlessly, while another WeddingSutra Favorite – DreamzKrraft conceptualized stunning decor for the Wedding function.
Wedding Venue
“Keeping in mind the accessibility from the airport and a place that could house up to 400 near and dear ones, we picked Hotel Sahara Star to host our wedding functions. It also offered us an impeccable array of venues,” shares Gunjan.
Wedding Planning
Vaibhav shares, “I am a wedding planner at Arika Event, and working closely with the DreamzKrraft team felt like working with family. They were full of ideas, and incorporated all our suggestions but also shared their valuable inputs based on their years of experience.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The mehndi function was the first of many events. It was a merry affair which saw floral decor, and a lemon yellow, blue, and mint green color palette for the decor. Gunjan looked stunning in a gorgeous yellow lehenga and golden dupatta, while Vaibhav opted for an elegant ecru-beige kurta and a jacket with floral motifs.
Musical Night
The musical or ‘Mausiiquii’ night following the ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ theme saw decor elements in red and golden featuring vintage props. At the entrance, an eye-catching photo booth designed with colorful flowers, a boat, and an LED backdrop recreated the picturesque setting of Kashmir. The couple were welcomed by sufi dancers, the evening took a high turn with singer Bhavin Shastri making the guests sway to his melodious songs. The event was followed by an after-party where DJ Alex took to the stage and had the guests dancing all night long. Vaibhav and Gunjan were seen twinning in red outfits, while their guests kept the spirit high by accessorizing their looks with qawwali caps and paasas.
Pool Party
The morning started with a party held near the poolside, and the space was decorated with bright Rajasthani latkans and puppets. The younger guests wore colorful ensembles and had a great time participating in fun activities such as balloon shooting, pottery, bangle making, and tarot card reading, alongside indulging in street food and relaxing foot massages. Wearing matching beige outfits, the couple made a grand entry with a walking globe artist.
Sangeet
Their sangeet function held on the lawns of ITC Maratha followed a ‘Dancing Under The Stars’ theme, and the venue was decorated with elements of mystery and surprise and the pathway to it was lit with glittering lights and vintage lanterns. The energetic dance performances by the families followed by heartfelt toasts were the highlights of the evening. Vaibhav donned a green Suii Nuii bandhgala, and Gunjan looked stunning in a pastel grey Kresha Bajaj lehenga.
Haldi
The wedding day kicked off early with an outdoor haldi ceremony by the poolside. Following a sunny, vibrant yellow theme, the venue was decorated with bright yellow and red drapes. After the couple was smeared in a turmeric paste, they took their turn and called it even by painting their guests’ faces with the same paste.
Wedding
Their wedding ceremony held at the Sapphire Ballroom of Hotel Sahara Star was resplendent with fresh flowers and lots of greens. The customized stage for the couple with an acrylic facade, alongside the overhead structure adorned with blooms, chandeliers, and fairy lights added a halo effect around the couple. The gold threads and cut out hangings created a magical effect throughout the ballroom. The bride and groom looked mesmerizing in their outfits by Sulakshana Monga and Suii Nuii respectively. The bride’s entry on a peacock throne designed and choreographed by Sameer Tanna and his team of lovely dancers stole the show. The couple then made a grand entry together with Maharashtrian dancers performing as they walked in for their wedding rituals.
