Harmit and Varun, Jaipur
From jaw-dropping outfits to marvellous decor, this wedding in Jaipur was a celebration to remember.
Sometimes, a person unexpectedly comes into your life and changes it forever. This was exactly the case for Harmit Kaur and Varun Shrimal, who married in an intimate wedding at Samode Palace, Jaipur. The couple entrusted the team at WeddingSutra Favorite – Happy Flashbacks to capture all the moments from their big day, while another WeddingSutra Favorite – Desert Pearl Entertainment perfectly planned the duo’s wedding turning their dreams into reality.
How They Met
Harmit recalls, “Our love story began with brazen foolishness. We met in Goa at our best friends’ wedding. I was the maid of honour and Varun was the best man. It happened at the after-party post the sangeet, where thirty of us were crammed in Varun’s hotel room. He laid eyes on me, stood up on the table, pointed at me and announced to the whole room that he’d marry me one day. I looked up from my phone with feelings of disgust and bewilderment! Even so, the incident made me curious about him. That’s how we started talking and immediately grew fond of each other. After the wedding, Varun went back to Sydney and I flew back to San Francisco. However, our conversations kept going. We were in a long-distance relationship for nine months before Varun took a transfer and moved to San Francisco to be with me. Now we’re here, married and happy.”
Wedding Venue
“We saw many hotels before finalizing Samode Palace. We loved that it was surrounded by the Aravallis, secluded from the hustle and bustle of the pink city. With a 475-year-old history, modern luxuries and amazing service, it was the perfect venue for an intimate yet classy wedding,” says the happy bride.
Wedding Planning
Harmit shares why she picked Happy Flashbacks and Desert Pearl Entertainment for her wedding, saying, “All of Happy Flashbacks’ films connected with us. Our favorite was Bhavna and Karambir’s wedding trailer. Their story was told so beautifully that we instantly knew they were the right pick. We didn’t want just a wedding movie; we wanted someone to capture our love in its true essence. Also, we got along with Anish and Noopur from the start. They are young and very passionate about their work.”
“The team at Desert Pearl Entertainment was very professional. We gave them all our inputs and, based on that, they planned and executed our entire wedding. It’s essential to pick a good team that has experience with wedding planning and can also execute your ideas in the best possible manner.”

Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
An intimate welcome dinner by the rooftop pool was held on the first night. Close family and friends were in attendance. There was a santoor and tabla player playing live music for the guests, who were all dressed in shades of white and gold. The bride looked stunning in a gold and beige saree by Izzumi Mehta, while the groom looked handsome in a white jacket by Rohit Bal.
Haldi
The haldi function was held the following morning; the venue decked out in white and yellow, and the couple wore matching bright yellow outfits. The event took a boisterous turn when friends began pouring buckets of water on the couple, which eventually led them to take a dip in the fountain.
Mehendi
Harmit and Varun hosted a sundowner mehndi party. It was a colorful occasion with bright pink drapes, umbrellas with Rajasthani prints and tons of marigolds adorning the area. Guests enjoyed eating at the live chaat station. Harmit wore a soothing pastel-blue lehenga with a colorful blouse and Varun kept it fresh in a white kurta and yellow jacket.
Sangeet
The sangeet night was a grand affair. The decor color palette was mainly red and gold, with an abundance of lights transforming the beautiful palace property into a magical-looking location. The star couple set the stage on fire with their dance performance. Harmit wore a red and white floral lehenga by Nakul Sen and Varun dressed up in a bandhgala by Shantanu and Nikhil.
Anand Karaj and Pheras
The couple followed both Hindu and Sikh rituals for their wedding. In the morning, the duo had their Anand Karaj at the Durbar Hall of the palace. Pastel colors were the order of the day, with the bride wearing a stunning champagne-colored lehenga with sequin work. The groom wore a tea rose sherwani with a maroon velvet stole by Shantanu and Nikhil. After a quick change, the couple geared up for the pheras – Harmit in an orange lehenga and Varun in a white sherwani. Everyone was dressed in colorful, traditional Indian outfits and the peach and white floral decor enhanced the festive mood.
Reception
The reception was the grand finale to this palatial wedding. The decor was clean and elegant. Held in the front lawn of the hotel, the area was set up with lots of fairy lights and lamps. The couple made a show-stopping entry as pyro fireworks lit up the venue.
A wedding film showcase for Harmit and Varun was created in an unbelievable time frame by the team at Happy Flashbacks making the couple sure that they was no better choice for them for their wedding cinematography than Noopur and Anish.
Advice for Couples
“Expect the events to almost always run late – be prepared for this. Don’t keep too many functions for a single day as it will overwhelm you and your guests. We did three big events in one day and it was super hectic. The most important thing is to have fun. Have another shot, dance to another song or eat another samosa. Be in the moment and enjoy the time with all your friends and family.”
