Harshitha Reddy and Jay Shah, Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa

This couple’s seaside phera ceremony with its floral decor and extravagant setups was a visual treat!

When Harshitha Reddy and Jay Shah envisioned their wedding, they sought more than just beautiful moments—they dreamed of a celebration that flowed with emotion, culture, and elegance. Entrusting their vision to WeddingSutra Favorite – F5 Weddings, the couple curated a five-day affair that unfolded across Mumbai and Chennai, each event distinct in theme, yet unified by an unmistakable warmth and intentionality.

How They Met
Harshitha and Jay met through mutual friends—no grand gestures, just a conversation that felt unexpectedly easy. “It felt like we had known each other for years,” they recall. That effortless connection would soon grow into something extraordinary.

The Proposal
A quiet winter afternoon in New York’s Central Park became the backdrop for a life-changing moment. The couple was nearing the end of their pre-wedding shoot when Harshitha noticed a setup by the lake. “I remember saying, ‘what a cute setup!’ without realising it was meant for me,” she smiles. Jay walked her to the spot, took her hand, and knelt to ask the most important question of their lives. As she said yes, friends appeared from behind the trees, clapping and cheering—the entire park seemed to share in their joy. “It felt like we were in a dream,” Harshitha says. “It was thoughtful, intimate, surprising—just like us.”

Wedding Planning
Planning a celebration that spanned cities and cultures came with its own set of dreams and challenges. To ensure every detail reflected their personalities and story, the couple curated mood boards for each function, choosing palettes, florals, and experiences that felt intentional. “We wanted each event to feel rooted in meaning, yet fresh and expressive,” Harshitha shares.
From the sunflower-drenched haldi to the breezy coastal wedding and the glam neon-lit cocktail, every element at this March celebration carried a personal touch. “F5 Weddings were phenomenal. They understood our vision and brought it to life with grace and precision. We couldn’t have asked for better partners for this journey,” the couple says.

Mehndi
Taking cues from the rich textures and colours of a traditional Indian Mela, the Mehndi function was a riot of vibrance. Printed drapes, embroidered fabrics, and an explosion of florals created a layered, immersive bazaar vibe. Harshitha’s multicoloured lehenga beautifully echoed the decor’s earthy palette, infusing the space with playful opulence.

Wedding
The wedding ceremony embraced serenity and tradition with a South Indian temple-inspired aesthetic. Hosted by the sea, it featured a palette of ivory and red, temple bells, and florals suspended in divine symmetry. Brass accents and floral deities adorned the mandap, making the ceremony feel sacred, grounded, and beautifully coastal.

Reception
In Chennai, the post-wedding reception was an ode to timeless elegance. Cascading red roses, crystal chandeliers, and golden accents brought a regal air to the evening, while soft lighting cast a romantic glow. Harshitha, draped in an opulent red saree, perfectly embodied the understated grandeur of the night.

Cocktail
The final celebration in Mumbai was bold and electric, a glamorous cocktail night that reimagined the energy of a speakeasy. The entrance tunnel shimmered with lights, while disco balls, lush florals, and a sleek bar setup lent the evening a cinematic edge. “We wanted it to feel like a scene out of Gatsby—playful, edgy, but still refined,” Harshitha adds. Clean neon installations added a contemporary twist, turning the evening into an unforgettable high note.
