Read more about their romance, proposal and grand wedding at the sprawling Taj Falaknuma Palace in the historic city of Hyderabad. Here, Ishita shares all the special details of their relationship and wedding celebrations….
How We Met
“It is surprising but all clichéd and romantic things happened to us when we least expected it! Aditya and I met in an arranged marriage setting and instantly hit it off from the first go! We had so much in common and spoke for hours together but needed time to think things through before committing to spending our lives together. However, in our hearts, we had connected deeply on a spiritual level at our first meeting itself and knew that this could be it. After two weeks of pretending to act wisely, we gave in and confessed to our parents that we were in love!”
The Proposal
“Aditya proposed to me in Bali, Indonesia, where I was with my parents for my father’s 60th birthday celebration. He had arranged for a note in my room notifying me about a dress I had to wear. I was then instructed to get in a taxi which would take me to a restaurant. On reaching there, I saw him kneeling with a ring in his hand. I knew at that moment that I couldn’t live without him – it was the most special moment of my life.”
Wedding Venues
“Since our wedding was an intimate two-day affair in Hyderabad,we wanted the best for us and our guests. We zeroed down on the Taj Falaknuma Palace for our wedding as we wanted it to be like a royal extravaganza and thought the stunning venue would suit our tastes and personalities well.”
Mehndi
“We wanted to go for traditional décor for the mehndi function, and after brainstorming with the décor artist, we chose to go with a blue pottery décor theme which not only gave it a very beautiful setting but also added a touch of elegant exuberance to the proceedings. To match the magnificent décor, I wore a gorgeous dull yellow and gold embellished Tarun Tahiliani lehenga with ‘gota’ jewellery and a ‘passa‘ (head ornament) from Fooljhadi.”
Sangeet
“Our sangeet was a get-together of sorts where all our friends and family members danced to the choicest beats of both Bollywood and international hits. I donned a breathtaking lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani with power shoulders and no dupatta which made it extremely easy for me to remain comfortable during my stage performances.”
Wedding
“I had always wanted a royal wedding and the Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad was our first and final choice for it. The magnificent interiors and artistic surroundings suited us best and also added that regal opulence to our wedding. I am an aesthete and wanted to not only enjoy each of the designs I wore but also feel comfortable in them. My red wedding lehenga by Anamika Khanna fit me like a glove. The lovely zari borders and shimmering embellishments truly matched my heavy kundan jewellery. And as for my bridal makeup – I completely surrendered to the prodigy Namrata Soni who made me look the best. She accentuated my eyes and added a subtle highlighter on the upper points of my cheekbones to make me appear every bit a royal princess!”
