How they met
They say that timing is everything! Jankana and Dushyant’s story of love is one that tugs at your heart and compels you to believe in destiny. Having known each other since childhood, their paths intersected time and again at family functions, get-togethers and more, but their bond of friendship never wavered. Eventually the tides of time caught up with them and they lost touch until a chance meeting a decade later in Kashmir. Jankana was visiting her family while Dushyant happened to be there for work, and somehow this time the stars aligned! Their first date on a houseboat on Nageen Lake sparked a chemistry post which, there was no turning back.
Wedding Planning
With their roots in Kashmir, the bride and groom wanted a modern yet royal wedding that celebrated their Kashmiri heritage while also highlighting their personal styles, and so they entrusted Weddings by Event Crafter to action it out. From finding the perfect venue at Neemrana’s Tijara Fort-Palace to planning and executing every last detail, they handled it all. Talking about their experience, they share, “It was a blessing to have an amazing wedding planning team. They picked the dreamiest venue for our traditional Kashmiri wedding of 3 days and multiple functions. Every function had a different theme ranging from boho to Arabic, ecofriendly origami-themed decor and a tie-and-dye Rajasthani theme respectively, but all maintained the Kashmiri ethos.
They took care of our guests as if they were their own, from welcoming them to bidding adieu to the last one leaving. They also immaculately handled the decor, ambience and cuisines! It was an excellent experience from day one, and Sid and Nitika made sure we had absolutely nothing to worry about. They even planned many surprise elements that we weren’t aware of, just like what a family does for their loved ones, and we are ever so grateful.”

Wedding Functions
Mehndi
Starting the festivities with a traditional Mehndi night or ‘Meanz Raat’ in Kashmiri, the decor took on a Moroccan spirit with hanging carpets, massive lanterns and more. With a memorable blend of traditional tunes and contemporary music, artist Abha Hanjura wowed the couple and their guests, performing on a rustic stage set up under a tree. The joyous, soulful environment had everyone from the young kids to the grandparents dancing and swinging to her songs.
Cocktail
With an added celebration of the groom’s birthday, the next day saw a rousing cocktail function. Colorful decor, neon signages, riveting music and more, made the night memorable. However, the highlight of the evening was the surprise planned by Nitika and Siddharth of Weddings by Event Crafter, which was an emotional 3D projection of the groom’s pictures on the birthday cake, that won the bride’s heart and everyone else present.
Wedding
Tastefully set with candles, flowers and a gorgeous floral mandap right under the moon and the stars, the wedding day decor was straight out of a fairytale. The couple passed on the usual nuptial hues of red and pink and dazzled in matching ensembles of blue as they exchanged their varmalas to the chants of Raja Ram Sita Ram in the background surrounded by fireworks and simmering emotions of their families. The bride shares, “My Dadi said, ‘it seemed like all the gods had come on earth to bless you as a couple’, and that is something I will always carry with me.”
