Vibrant, energetic and rooted in tradition, this destination wedding in Goa was a celebration of love, family and fun.
For Jhanvi Seth and Abhishek Shah, an arranged introduction that almost did not happen led to a destination wedding filled with colour, laughter and plenty of memorable moments. Photographed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Jumping Souls, the celebrations were documented with a natural, candid approach that captured the couple, their families and friends at their most relaxed.
How They Met
Introduced through family connections, Jhanvi and Abhishek’s arranged marriage setup had an unlikely beginning. Jhanvi was initially uninterested, while Abhishek had already been intrigued by her Instagram display picture and was looking for reasons to travel to Kolkata to meet her. Their first WhatsApp conversations were awkward, but a dinner changed things. What was meant to be a short meeting turned into hours of easy conversation, followed by arcade games, coffee dates and long conversations. “The person I had completely dismissed over texts and biodata turned out to be warm, funny, thoughtful, and incredibly easy to be around,” Jhanvi recalls.
A defining moment came during their roka in Kolkata, when heavy rains flooded the city. Abhishek stepped in to help with everything from arranging Jhanvi’s mehendi artist to rescuing her sister and young child through the flooded streets. “Watching him show up for my family without hesitation made me realise that this was the kind of person I wanted beside me for life,” she says. What began with a firm “no” gradually became an easy “yes”, as the couple realised how well their contrasting personalities complemented each other.
Wedding Planning
With their roka in September and wedding in March, Jhanvi and Abhishek had six months to plan their destination celebration. They explored venues across Siliguri, Puri, Goa, Jaipur and other destinations before finding the right setting. Once the venue was finalised, they worked through the many details of the wedding, from décor and entertainment to outfits and guest management. With nearly 400 guests, the celebration was naturally large, but the couple wanted it to remain personal. “We wanted every person there to feel genuinely connected to us,” they share. More than anything, they wanted everyone to have fun, with music, dancing, poolside moments, conversations and after-parties forming an important part of the experience.
Photography was one decision they took particular care with. They wanted a team they could trust and feel comfortable around, which led them to Jumping Souls. “Working with Jumping Souls honestly felt less like working with a photography team and more like having people who genuinely cared about our wedding as much as we did,” the couple says. From their first conversations with Sneha and the team, they found the photographers approachable and receptive to their ideas. Their unobtrusive approach allowed the celebrations to unfold naturally, resulting in photographs that captured the laughter, emotion and chaos without feeling staged. “They preserved not just our wedding events, but the feeling of those moments,” Jhanvi and Abhishek say.
Wedding Functions
Mandap Muhurat
The Mandap Muhurat and mehendi began the celebrations on a relaxed and colourful note. Jhanvi wore a vibrant printed outfit with a green jacket and traditional jewellery, while the setting kept the focus on family and friends.
Haldi
The Haldi brought colour into the outdoor setting with pastel pink, peach and yellow panels decorated with colourful floral arrangements. Roses, sunflowers and other blooms were arranged across the structures, creating a cheerful backdrop against the greenery and palm trees. The décor was matched by the energy of the guests, who embraced the afternoon with colourful outfits, music, laughter and plenty of playful Haldi moments. Jumping Souls captured the event through candid interactions and lively portraits.
Sangeet
The Sangeet took a more dramatic turn with a black stage backdrop framed by curved gold structures. White and green floral arrangements were placed across the installation, while cascading foliage added texture to the otherwise clean, graphic setting. Abhishek and his friends brought the energy to the stage with a lively performance, with the lighting and décor creating a polished backdrop for the evening’s acts.
Pool Party
The Pool Party was all about keeping things relaxed. Set around the pool and surrounded by greenery and palm trees, the afternoon brought together the couple’s friends and family for swimming, music and plenty of laughter. Guests dressed in bright, holiday-inspired outfits, adding to the easygoing mood. From group photographs in the pool to candid moments between friends, the celebrations reflected exactly what Jhanvi and Abhishek had wanted: an opportunity for everyone to let loose and enjoy themselves.
Wedding
For the wedding, Jhanvi chose a traditional red bridal ensemble with layered jewellery and floral garlands, while Abhishek wore an ivory sherwani and safa. The open-air ceremony combined traditional elements with a contemporary mandap design. A large floral installation in red and pink formed the centrepiece, framed by sculptural gold lines that created a distinctive outline around the couple. The tropical surroundings remained visible beyond the mandap, keeping the setting connected to the destination. As petals were showered over the couple and smoke added to the atmosphere, the ceremony unfolded with a sense of celebration.
